Memphis is a city in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is the seat of Shelby County in the southwest part of the state; it is situated along the Mississippi River. With a population of 633,104 at the 2020 U.S. census, Memphis is the second-most populous city in Tennessee, after Nashville.

Firestone Tire and Rubber Company is an American tire company founded by Harvey Firestone (1868–1938) in 1900 initially to supply solid rubber side-wire tires for fire apparatus, and later, pneumatic tires for wagons, buggies, and other forms of wheeled transportation common in the era. A Hoosier cabinet is a type of cupboard or free-standing kitchen cabinet that also serves as a workstation. It was popular in the first few decades of the 20th century in the United States, since most houses did not have built-in kitchen cabinetry. The Hoosier Manufacturing Co. of New Castle, Indiana, was one of the earliest and largest manufacturers of this product, causing the term "Hoosier cabinet" to become a generic term for that type of furniture. Furniture Brands International, Inc., was a Clayton, Missouri-based home furnishings company. The company began in 1911 as International Shoe Company with the merger of Roberts, Johnson & Rand Shoe Company and Peters Shoe Company. In 1966 the company changed its name to Interco as the result of diversification, and once the company exited the shoe business, adopted the name Furniture Brands International. Some of the brands it owned in the furniture industry included Broyhill, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage, Henredon, Hickory Chair, Pearson, Laneventure, and Maitland-Smith. In 2013, Furniture Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced plans to sell most of its divisions. New owner KPS Capital Partners announced the formation of Heritage Home Group on November 25 of that year.

Known also as Tomlinson Chair Manufacturing Company Complex, it was listed on the NRHP under that name. The former manufacturing complex includes the oldest factory building in the city, and its renovation has been credited with making High Point a successful furniture exhibition center. A 16-story addition in 1990 is one of the city's tallest buildings.

Great Dane, formerly known as Great Dane Trailers, is a Chicago, Illinois based manufacturer of truck dry van, refrigerated van and flatbed semi-trailers. Established in 1900 by J.P. Wheless and T.H. McMillan as the Savannah Blowpipe Company in Savannah, Georgia, it has gone on to become one of the world's largest manufacturers of commercial truck trailers.
KroehlerManufacturing Company was a furniture company and was originally incorporated as the Naperville Lounge Company, on March 9, 1893. It was founded by ten original stockholders. In 1896, Peter Kroehler, an employee, offered to purchase the stockholder's interest at its book value. The offer was taken, and at the beginning of 1896 a new group of four partners took over the business. In 1897, the company found a new headquarters next to the C. B. & Q tracks in Naperville IL. On April 6, 1903, Peter Kroehler was made president of the company. On April 1, 1915, the name "Kroehler Manufacturing Company" was adopted, as the company had four factories now operating under various names, which was inconvenient. Kroehler Manufacturing Company later became the world's largest furniture company. During the 1970s, the company started operating at a loss, closing its historic Naperville factory in 1978 and ending its operations in the area. In 1981 Kroehler Manufacturing Company was acquired by the ATR Group of Northbrook, which sold off the furniture plants and the Kroehler name.
