Mercedes Sampietro Marro (born 24 January 1947) is a Spanish actress.
Mercedes Sampietro Marro was born in Barcelona on 24 January 1947. [1] She began her career as a stage actress in 1970. [2] Having performed as a voice actress in a number of films, [2] she made her film debut onscreen in Jaime Chávarri's To an Unknown God (1977). [3] She has worked five times with Pilar Miró. In 1981 she won the award for Best Actress at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival for her role in Gary Cooper, Who Art in Heaven . [4]
She won a Goya Award for Best Actress for her role in the 2002 Argentine-Spanish film Common Ground , [5] performing Liliana Rovira, a social worker, daughter to Spanish Republican exiles who settled in Argentina. [5] [6]
She has dubbed actresses including Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Kim Basinger, and Catherine Deneuve. [7]
Sampietro was the recipient of the 2003 National Cinematography Prize in Spain. [8]
She served as the president of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain from 9 October 2003 to 18 December 2006.
