The Paralympic Games or Paralympics, also known as the Games of the Paralympiad, is a periodic series of international multisport events involving athletes with a range of disabilities. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, are held almost immediately following the respective Olympic Games. All Paralympic Games are governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The 2022 Winter Paralympics, commonly known as Beijing 2022, were an international winter multi-sport parasports event held in Beijing, China from 4 to 13 March 2022. This was the 13th Winter Paralympic Games, as administered by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The World Para Athletics European Championships, known prior to 2018 as the IPC Athletics European Championships is an event organized by World Para Athletics, the international athletics federation established under the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in 2016. Athletes with a physical disability compete, and there is also a specific category for athletes with an intellectual disability. Organised biennially, the original Games ran from 2003 to 2005 as an Open Championship but the event was frozen in 2005, but returned in 2012 in Stadskanaal, Netherlands.
Birgit Kober is a German Paralympic athlete. She initially competed in F34 seated throwing events, and from 2011 to 2013 she became the reigning champion at European, World and Paralympic level in both shot put and javelin in her class. At the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London, she broke the world record in both her events. Following changes to the IPC rules for seated throws in 2014, she chose to compete in a standing position as an F36 athlete. She won the F36 shot put at the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games with a Paralympic record throw. As of April 2017 she is World Record holder in the Women's F36 shot put, a distance of 11.52 m set in July 2016.
Anna Katharina Schaffelhuber is a German para-alpine skier. At the 2014 Winter Paralympics she won five gold medals, becoming only the second athlete to sweep the alpine skiing events.
Vanessa Low is a German-born Australian Paralympic athlete competing in T42 sprint and long jump events. Born in East Germany, she gained Australian nationality in June 2017.
Marie Brämer-Skowronek is a German Paralympic athlete competing in F34 classification throwing events. Brämer-Skowronek represented Germany at the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London, entering the javelin throw and the shot put. She finished tenth in the shot and in the javelin, which stretched over four classifications, she threw a distance of 20.43 metres to win the silver medal. As well as Paralympic success, Brämer-Skowronek won a bronze medal at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships in the javelin.
Irmgard Bensusan is a South African born Paralympic sprinter who now competes for Germany, mainly in T44 classification events. Bensusan competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics where she won three silver medals in the 100, 200 and 400 metre sprints.
Johannes Floors is a German para-athlete. A bilateral lower limb amputee, Floors competes in sprint events, competing in the T43 classification.
Anja Wicker is a German disabled cross-country skier and biathlete. She represented Germany at the 2014 Winter Paralympics claiming a gold and a silver medal in the biathlon events. She also represented Germany at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Paralympics.
Lindy Ave is a German Paralympic athlete who competes in sprinting and long jump in international level events.
Alhassane Baldé is a Guinean-born German Paralympic athlete who competes in long-distance running events in international level events.
Peggy Sonntag is a German Paralympic swimmer who competes in international level events. Her highest achievement is reaching two finals at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London and reaching fourth place in the women's 50m freestyle S5 at the 2018 World Para Swimming European Championships in Dublin.
Frank Tinnemeier is a German Paralympic athlete who competes in shot put at international elite events. He is a three-time world medalist and a European champion, who has also competed at the Paralympic Games three times.
Frederike Charlotte Koleiski is a German Paralympic athlete who competes in discus throw and shot put in international elite competitions. She is a World champion in shot put and narrowly missed a medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics.
Janne Sophie Engeleiter is a German Paralympic athlete who competes in sprinting and long jump events at international elite events. She is a multiple European medalist in 100 metres.
Maike Hausberger is a German Paralympic cyclist who competes in international elite competitions, she is also a former Paralympic athlete and triathlete. Hausberger switched to cycling in 2017 because of sporting injuries in her track and field career.
Taliso Engel is a blind German para swimmer who competes in international elite competitions.
Tobias Pollap is a German Paralympic swimmer who competes in international elite competitions. He is a three-time World medalist and an eight-time European medalist. He has also competed at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Paralympics.
Gina Böttcher is a German Paralympic swimmer who competes in international elite competitions. She is a six-time European medalist. She has competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics but did not medal.
