Michael Corcoran (born December 9, 1972), [1] known professionally as Backhouse Mike or Ken Lofkoll, is an American musician, record producer, and composer. He has composed songs for Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh , iCarly , Victorious , The Troop , Sam & Cat and Henry Danger , Disney Channel's Shake It Up and Liv and Maddie , Netflix's The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show , and VH1's Hit the Floor .

Career

From around 2003 to early 2010 he was a member of Drake Bell's band. His band Backhouse Mike, which consisted of lead singer and guitarist Jon Seminara, bassist John Charles Meyer, and keyboardist Kimberly Barnett appeared in the iCarly episode "iAm Your Biggest Fan" and the final episode of Zoey 101 , "Chasing Zoey", using the name Backflesh. The band's song "Take Me Back" appears on the iCarly soundtrack.

Personal life

On August 8, 2020, Corcoran married actress Elizabeth Gillies (b. 1993) at a private ceremony in New Jersey [2] [3] after the pair began dating in 2012, having met each other on the Nickelodeon show Victorious when Gillies was 16. [4] They reside in Atlanta, Georgia. [2]

"Makes Me Happy" was originally used as score music for the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 and some of it was sung by Backhouse Mike in the Zoey 101 episode "Quinn's Alpaca". The song was used in the Drake & Josh episode "Really Big Shrimp", however the version heard in it is a different version than the version on It's Only Time. <i>Victorious</i> American teen sitcom

Victorious is an American sitcom created by Dan Schneider that originally aired on Nickelodeon, debuting on March 27, 2010, and concluding on February 2, 2013 after four seasons. The series revolves around aspiring singer Tori Vega, a teenager who attends a performing arts high school called Hollywood Arts High School, after taking her older sister Trina's place in a showcase while getting into screwball situations on a daily basis. On her first day at Hollywood Arts, she meets Andre Harris, Robbie Shapiro, Rex Powers, Jade West, Cat Valentine, and Beck Oliver. The series premiered after the 2010 Kids' Choice Awards. It was produced by The Super Chris and Michael Corcoran, who also co-wrote the song with C.J. Abraham, Nick Hexum, Zack Hexum, and Dan Schneider. It was released as the second single from the soundtrack to digital platforms on November 22, 2010, through Columbia Records and Nickelodeon. Musically, it is a teen pop track with lyrics about fighting with a boyfriend. A Victorious episode of the same name premiered on November 26, 2010, and features Tori Vega (Justice), Jade West and Cat Valentine trying to expose a rigged karaoke competition.

Some of the other singers on the album include Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies, Miranda Cosgrove, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett, Daniella Monet and Avan Jogia. The majority of the album was written by Michael Corcoran, Dan Schneider, Savan Kotecha, Kool Kojak and CJ Abraham with Victoria Justice involved in the composition of "Best Friend's Brother" and Leon Thomas III on "Song 2 You".
