Michael Paul Dare Fava CBE QHC (born 1962) is a British Catholic priest and former British Army chaplain. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Deputy Chaplain General of the Royal Army Chaplains' Department: he is the first Roman Catholic to hold the post. [1]
Fava was born in 1962 in Kampala, Uganda, before moving to the United Kingdom in 1970. [2] He was educated at Salesian College, Farnborough, an independent Catholic school. [3] He studied theology at the University of Oxford and then pastoral theology at the University of London. [2]
Fava entered the Order of Saint Benedict in 1980, and was ordained to the priesthood on 8 July 1989. [4] [5] He was commissioned into the British Army as a chaplain in 1997. [4] [6] In 2004, he moved from the Benedictines to become a secular priest affiliated with the Diocese of Portsmouth. [4] He appointed Deputy Chaplain-General to Her Majesty's Land Forces Army in November 2018, [1] and promoted to the rank of deputy chaplain general (equivalent to brigadier) on 30 June 2019. [7]
On 5 July 2017, Fava was appointed an Honorary Chaplain to the Queen (QHC). [8] He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2019 Birthday Honours. [9]
Fava retired from the British Army on 30 October 2020. [10] In late 2021, he joined St Joseph's Church, Newbury, Berkshire, in the Diocese of Portsmouth, as parish priest. [11] [12]

Finally, he was Vicar Apostolic for Great Britain, Military from 1917, and Principal Roman Catholic Chaplain to the Forces from 1920.
The Ven Peter Mallett, CB, OStJ, QHC was a Church of England priest and British Army padre, who served as Chaplain-General to the Forces between 1974 and 1980.
Raymond Jackson Pentland, is a British Church of England priest. He is a retired military chaplain, having served as Chaplain-in-Chief of the Royal Air Force and head of its Chaplains Branch from 2009 to 2014.

From 2017 to 2023, he was the Bishop of Sodor and Man; he was consecrated a bishop in the Church of England in June 2017, and he was installed in September 2017. He is a former chaplain of the British Army, serving as Archdeacon for the Army (2011–2017) and the Deputy Chaplain-General of the Royal Army Chaplains' Department (2014–2017).

Before and after his service in the British Army, he was a parish priest in the Diocese of Monmouth of the Church in Wales.

Air Vice-Marshal John Raymond Ellis, is a British Anglican priest and former police officer. Between July 2018 and July 2022 he served as Chaplain-in-Chief of the Royal Air Force Chaplains Branch and Archdeacon for the Royal Air Force. He had worked as a police officer and then in parish ministry in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich from 1997, before joining the Royal Air Force Chaplains Branch in 2004.
Martyn John Gough was a British Anglican priest, who served as a military chaplain and was Chaplain of the Fleet and Archdeacon for the Royal Navy from 2018 until his retirement in 2021. At the time of his death he held the voluntary position of National Chaplain to the Royal British Legion.
