Michael H. Moskow (born January 7,1938) is currently vice chairman and distinguished fellow on the global economy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. [1] From 1994 to 2007,he served as president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. In that capacity,he was a member of the Federal Open Market Committee,the Federal Reserve System's most important monetary policy-making body. [2]
Moskow's professional accomplishments include service in both the public and private sectors,as well as higher education. During the course of his career,he has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate for five positions in the federal government.
Moskow began his career teaching economics,labor relations,and management at Temple University,Lafayette College,and Drexel University. From 1969 to 1977,he held a number of senior positions in the federal government,including Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor,director of the Council on Wage and Price Stability,Assistant Secretary for Policy Development and Research at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,and senior staff economist with the Council of Economic Advisers.
In 1977,Moskow joined the private sector at Esmark in Chicago and later held senior management positions at Northwest Industries,Dart &Kraft,and Premark International. In 1991,President George H. W. Bush appointed Moskow Deputy U.S. Trade Representative,with the corresponding rank of Ambassador. In this role,he was responsible for trade negotiations with Japan,China,and Southeast Asian countries,as well as oversight of industries such as steel,semiconductors,and aircraft. Moskow returned to academia in 1993,joining the faculty of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where he was professor of strategy and international management at the time of his appointment as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
Moskow is active in numerous professional and civic organizations. He is chairman of the Japan America Society of Chicago,former chairman of the Economic Club of Chicago,and serves as a director of World Business Chicago. He is a board member and former chairman of the National Bureau of Economic Research,a member of the Commercial Club of Chicago,and a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. Moskow is also an emeritus trustee of Lafayette College.
Since leaving his position at the Federal Reserve,Moskow joined the boards of directors of Discover Financial Services,Commonwealth Edison (a subsidiary of Exelon),the National Futures Association,Northern Funds (2008-2013),Taylor Capital Group (2008-2014),and Diamond Management &Technology Consultants (2008-2010). He is a member of the advisory boards to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange,Edgewater Funds,and Promontory Financial Group. [3]
Moskow was born in Paterson,New Jersey. He received an A.B. in economics from Lafayette College in Easton,Pennsylvania,where he was a member of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity,and a Ph.D. in business and applied economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He has received honorary doctoral degrees from DePaul University,Dominican University,Lafayette College,and Lewis University. Moskow is married to Suzanne Kopp-Moskow. [4] He has three children from a previous marriage and seven grandchildren.

Paul Adolph Volcker Jr. was an American economist. He served two terms as the 12th Chair of the Federal Reserve from 1979 to 1987. He was nominated to the position by President Jimmy Carter and renominated by President Ronald Reagan. He was widely credited with having ended the high levels of inflation seen in the United States during the 1970s and early 1980s. After his retirement from the Fed,he chaired the Economic Recovery Advisory Board under President Barack Obama from February 2009 until January 2011.
Susan Schmidt Bies was born in Buffalo,New York,and received a B.S. in education from Buffalo State College in 1967 and an M.A. (1968) and a Ph.D. (1972),both in economics,from Northwestern University,Bies was a member of the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Peter Bain Kenen was an American economist,who was the Walker Professor of Economics and International Finance at Princeton University,and senior fellow in international economics at the Council on Foreign Relations.
William Joseph McDonough was a former vice chairman and special advisor to the chairman at Merrill Lynch &Co. Inc.,responsible for assisting senior management in the company's business development efforts with governments and financial institutions. He retired in 2009.

Randall S. Kroszner is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System of the United States. He was chairman of its Committee on Supervision and Regulation of Banking Institutions during the global financial crisis. He took office on March 1,2006 to fill an unexpired term,and stepped down on January 21,2009. Kroszner has been professor of economics at the University of Chicago since the 1990s,with various leaves,and named Norman R. Bobins Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2009,and serves as a senior advisor for Patomak Partners.
C. Fred Bergsten is an American economist,author,and political adviser. He has previously served as assistant for international economic affairs to Henry Kissinger within the National Security Council and as assistant secretary for international affairs at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He was director of the Peterson Institute for International Economics,formerly the Institute for International Economics,from its founding in 1981 through 2012 and is now senior fellow and director emeritus. In addition to his academic work,he makes his opinions known to the policy making community and engages with the public with television appearances,writing for influential periodicals such as Foreign Affairs magazine and by writing numerous books.

William Poole was the eleventh chief executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. He took office on March 23,1998 and began serving his full term on March 1,2001. In 2007,he served as a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee,bringing his District's perspective to policy discussions in Washington. Poole stepped down from the Fed on March 31,2008.

The Summer Palace Dialogue (SPD) is an economic forum which brings together economists from both China and the United States to discuss economic cooperation between the two largest economies in the world. SPD is co-hosted by Chinese Economists 50 Forum and the Columbia Global Centers East Asia,and was formerly co-hosted by the Brookings Institution. It was founded in 2009 by former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and current Chairman of AEA Investors Admiral Bill Owens and Vice Minister Liu He of the Chinese Central Leading Group on Financial and Economic Affairs. The forum extends for two days. Participants spend the first day in private discussions and then convene a half-day public session to summarize their observations,analyses,and conclusions with the press and a broader audience. The Summer Palace Dialogue is scheduled annually in mid-September in Beijing,right before the Summer World Economic Forum in Dalian. The third annual Summer Palace Dialogue was held on September 12–13,2011.
