Michael "Mike" Huebsch (born July 19,1964) is a Republican politician and former legislator from Wisconsin.
Born in Milwaukee,Wisconsin,Huebsch graduated from Onalaska High School and attended Oral Roberts University. He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1995 through 2011. From 2007 to 2009,he served as Speaker of the Assembly. Huebsch,his wife,and family live in West Salem,Wisconsin. [1]
While in the State Assembly,he and fellow Republican representative and future governor Scott Walker were involved in the Jamyi Witch hiring controversy in 2001–02,in which they attempted to terminate the employment of state employee Jamyi Witch because of her beliefs as a Wiccan. [2] [3] Huebsch said that "Taxpayers shouldn't be forced to accept this hocus-pocus," proposing to delete the state appropriation which funded Witch's position. [4] Huebsch and Walker were ultimately unsuccessful in terminating Witch's employment. [2]
Huebsch resigned from the Assembly after Walker,having been elected governor in 2010,appointed Huebsch as Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration on December 30,2010. [5] [6]
In early 2015,Huebsch was appointed to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. [7] He served until his resignation in February 2020. [8]
Scott Kevin Walker is an American politician who served as the 45th Governor of Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019. He is a member of the Republican Party.

Leah Vukmir is an American politician and nurse who served as a member of the Wisconsin Senate. A Republican,she represented Wisconsin's 5th District. She previously served in the Wisconsin Assembly. Vukmir was the Republican nominee in the 2018 U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin,running unsuccessfully against incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin. In March 2019,Vukmir became vice president of state affairs at the National Taxpayers Union.

In 2001–2002 several Republican state representatives in Wisconsin objected to the hiring of Jamyi Witch,a Wiccan,as a prison chaplain. The objection to the hiring was led by Michael Huebsch and later joined by Scott Walker who was then a state representative.
The One-Hundredth Wisconsin Legislature convened,in regular session,on January 3,2011,and concluded on May 22,2012. A concurrent special session was begun on January 18,2011,and ran through May 11,2011,and another brief special session was held from October 25,2011,through November 3,2011. There was an additional extraordinary session held from June 14,2011,through August 1,2011.
The 2011 Wisconsin protests were a series of demonstrations in the state of Wisconsin in the United States beginning in February involving as many as 100,000 protesters opposing the 2011 Wisconsin Act 10,also called the "Wisconsin Budget Repair bill." The protests centered on the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison,with satellite protests also occurring at other municipalities throughout the state. Demonstrations took place at various college campuses,including the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. After the collective bargaining bill was upheld by the Wisconsin Supreme Court on June 14,the number of protesters declined to about 1,000 within a couple days.
Minnesota's Twin Cities region is home to a large community of Wiccans,Witches,Druids,Heathens,and a number of Pagan organizations. Some neopagans in the USA refer to the area as Paganistan,a term coined by linguist,poet,and humorist Steven Posch in 1989,which he then used in the title of his spoken word album Radio Paganistan :Folktales of the Urban Witches.
Wiccans and Pagans in the United States military have,since the close of the 20th century,experienced a gradual increase in official recognition. The Wiccan pentacle is now an approved emblem for gravestones under the Veterans Administration,achieved in 2007 following legal action regarding the grave of Wiccan soldier Patrick Stewart. In 2011,the United States Air Force Academy dedicated an $80,000 "outdoor worship center" for "Earth-based religions" such as Paganism and traditional Native American religions. As of 2015,there is no provision for official recognition of Wiccan or Pagan chaplains.
The 2022 Wisconsin gubernatorial election will take place on November 8,2022,to elect the governor of Wisconsin. Incumbent Democratic Governor Tony Evers will seek a second term in office. As Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes is running for the U.S. Senate in 2022,a new running mate will be nominated in the partisan primary. Barnes is the first lieutenant governor to not run with the incumbent governor since the state constitution was amended in 1967. The partisan primary is scheduled for August 9,2022.
