Michael Kuhr (born 26 February 1962) is a German former professional kickboxer. Since retiring, he has worked as a security specialist. [1]

Biography

Michael was born to Wolfgang Kuhr and Traute Nitschke in Berlin in 1962. He worked for the German postal service from 1978 to 1995, before resigning for health reasons. He now runs a successful security company in Berlin, and regularly aids in police investigations. In 2001 he worked with the Landeskriminalamt Berlin as part of the special unit "Besondere Aufbauorganisation (BAO) Türsteher", established to help combat organized crime. [2]

Kuhr began kickboxing in 1974. After winning the Vice World Championship in 1979 he began to compete regularly in amateur competition, becoming ten times German champion, four times European Champion and 1985 World Champion [World Association of Kickboxing Organizations|WAKO].[ citation needed ] After moving into the professional circuit in 1990 he became the first German professional kickboxing champion.[ citation needed ] Between 1990 and 1994 he was champion of the world associations WAKO-PRO, PKO, ISKA and IKBF. [3] In 1994 he retired for health reasons.

Michael Kuhr and his security team have regularly appeared on television in news reports and documentaries, and have aided police in a number of high profile criminal investigations, including the 2010 armed robbery of the Hotel Grand Hyatt during the European Poker Tour. [4] In 2012 German police intercepted intelligence that local organised crime figures had attempted to have Kuhr assassinated. [5] [6]

Dennis Raymond Alexio is an American former professional kickboxer and actor who competed in the light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions. Starting out as a light heavyweight, Alexio kicked off his career with an extensive, knockout-laden undefeated streak before losing a decision to Don "The Dragon" Wilson in a World Kickboxing Association (WKA) World Super Light Heavyweight Full Contact Championship match in 1984. He rebounded from this by winning the Professional Karate Association (PKA) World Light Heavyweight title that same year before moving up to cruiserweight and taking the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) World Cruiserweight Full Contact strap. In the late 1980s, he began his transition to the heavyweight division where he won six world titles and was considered the undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. He faced the two toughest tests of his career in 1992 against Branko Cikatić and Stan Longinidis - both of whom were heavier fighters - fighting to a controversial draw with Cikatić and losing to Longinidis via an early low kick KO which resulted in a broken leg.

Stan "The Man" Longinidis is an Australian retired heavyweight kickboxer and 8-time world kickboxing champion. Born in Melbourne of Greek ethnicity, Longinidis is one of the few fighters to win world titles in four different styles of kickboxing competition: international rules, Oriental rules, full contact and Muay Thai. He holds notable victories over Branko Cikatić, Adam Watt, Peter Graham, Musashi and Dennis Alexio.

Jomhod "King of the Ring" Kiatadisak is a professional Muay Thai fighter from Phang Nga province in the South of Thailand. He started learning muay Thai at the age of 7 and won his first fight when he was 11 years old. In 1986, Jomhod won the Southern Thailand Championship in 59.6 kg weight category and the same year, at the age of 16, he moved to Bangkok and began his proper fighting career.
