At the 1896 Summer Olympics, six cycling events were contested at the Neo Phaliron Velodrome. They were organized and prepared by the Sub-Committee for Cycling. Events were held on 8 April, 11 April, 12 April and 13 April 1896. Nineteen cyclists, all men, from five nations competed.

The men's points race was an event at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, for which the final was held on August 3, 1984. There were 43 participants from 25 nations. Each nation was limited to 2 cyclists. 24 cyclists competed in the final after two semifinals. The event was won by Roger Ilegems of Belgium, with Uwe Messerschmidt taking silver and José Youshimatz of Mexico bronze. It was the first medal in the event for each nation, none of which had competed in the previous edition in 1900.
The cycling competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place at five venues between 28 July and 12 August. The venues were the London Velopark for track cycling and BMX, and Hadleigh Farm, in Essex, for mountain biking. The road races took place over a course starting and ending in The Mall in central London and heading out into Surrey, while the time trials started and finished at Hampton Court Palace in Richmond upon Thames. Jeremy Adam Duvendeck is a retired American professional track cyclist. He represented the United States in two editions of the Olympic Games, and later claimed two elite national titles each in men's sprint (2003) and Keirin (2006) at the U.S. Track Cycling Championships. Before retiring to focus on his coaching career in 2009, Duvendeck rode for the Momentum Cycling Team.
