Michael McElroy (born 1967) is a Grammy [1] and Tony nominated American musical theatre actor, [2] singer and music director.
Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, to Marcella Caffie, McElroy moved to New York City in May 1990 after earning his BFA in Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University. He made his Broadway debut in The High Rollers Social and Pleasure Club. He has since appeared in numerous productions, both on and off-Broadway, and in 2004 was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Big River . He has also been nominated for Drama Desk Awards for Violet and Big River. In 1995, McElroy appeared in the premiere performance of John Adams' opera I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky in Berkeley, California.
In 1999, McElroy became the founder and director of the Broadway Inspirational Voices, [3] a diverse, non-denominational gospel choir made up of Broadway singers. In the fall of 2021 McElroy was appointed as chair of the Musical Theatre Department at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. [4] McElroy resigned from the position in June, 2023.

The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theatre, more commonly known as a Tony Award, recognizes excellence in live Broadway theatre. The awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League at an annual ceremony in Manhattan. The ceremony is usually held in June.

Violet is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and libretto by Brian Crawley based on the short story "The Ugliest Pilgrim" by Doris Betts. Michael Sahr Ngaujah is an American theater actor and director. Not long after his parents arrival from Sierra Leone via UK, Sahr was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. "Come Sunday" is a piece by Duke Ellington, which became a jazz standard. It was written as a part of the first movement of a suite entitled Black, Brown and Beige. Ellington was engaged for a performance at Carnegie Hall on January 23, 1943, for which he wrote the entire composition. In 1958 he revised the suite and recorded it in its entirety for that year's album titled after the suite. "Come Sunday" was originally a centerpiece for alto saxophone player Johnny Hodges; the 1958 album, which contained a vocal version of the piece with new lyrics by Ellington featuring gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, greatly increased its popularity.
Leslie Lloyd Odom Jr. is an American actor, singer and songwriter. He made his acting debut on Broadway in 1998 and first gained recognition for his portrayal of Aaron Burr in the musical Hamilton, which earned him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in the same year. His performance was captured in the Disney+ live stage recording of Hamilton which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role in a Limited Series or Movie nomination.
