Michael Melia (born 25 July 1945 [1] ) is a British actor best known for his work on television. He appeared as Queen Vic landlord Eddie Royle in BBC One soap opera EastEnders between 1990 and 1991.
He lives in Hampton Wick, Surrey with his wife, Celia. They have two children, Tom and Charlotte, who have both appeared as extras in the EastEnders market square.
Melia was born in Berkshire and attended St Mary's College, Strawberry Hill, the oldest Roman Catholic college in England. Before taking up acting he was a teacher. At one stage he ran a bar in Spain and thought about applying for a pub tenancy in England. However the idea was vetoed by his wife, former actress turned teacher, Celia Melia.
He began acting in television in the early 1970s, usually playing heavies or policemen, though he spent four years performing classic plays with the National Theatre. In 1990, he joined the BBC One soap opera EastEnders as pub landlord Eddie Royle; however, he only lasted just over a year in this role as his character was killed off in September 1991. His character was stabbed by Nick Cotton (John Altman) who was later tried for the murder but cleared.
After leaving EastEnders, he appeared as Frank Dagley on Dangerfield ; and, more recently, Jerry Block for over a hundred episodes of the footballing soap opera Dream Team .
His rugged features have led to parts in numerous crime dramas: The Sweeney , The Gentle Touch , Fox , The Bill , Minder in the Series 1 episode "Monday Night Fever", C.A.T.S. Eyes , Campion , The Chinese Detective , Dempsey and Makepeace , Rumpole of the Bailey , Inspector Morse , Maigret , The Detectives , Daylight Robbery and New Tricks .
He has also had parts in many other established dramas including When the Boat Comes In , Coronation Street , Casualty and most recently Doctors and Emmerdale . He is also known for having appeared on Doctor Who in full alien costume as the Terileptil Leader in the 1982 story The Visitation , and had a minor part on Blake's 7 . In 2010, he guest starred in Dani's House .
Geoffrey William Hughes DL was an English actor. Hughes provided the voice of Paul McCartney in the animated film Yellow Submarine (1968), and rose to fame for portraying bin man Eddie Yeats in the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street from 1974 to 1983, making a return to the show in 1987. He is well known for playing loveable slob Onslow in the British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances (1990–1995) and "Twiggy" in the sitcom The Royle Family, playing the part from 1998 to 2008.

Clyde Tavernier is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Steven Woodcock. Introduced on 5 July 1990, Clyde featured in prominent storylines including an inter-racial relationship with Michelle Fowler and being framed for the murder of publican Eddie Royle. William Boyde is a British actor, best known for his work on the British soap opera EastEnders. He was educated at Cheltenham College where he appeared as an extra in the film If...which was filmed at the school. His character James Willmott-Brown became one of the soap's most renowned villains after raping barmaid Kathy Beale in 1988, and then terrorizing her in 1992. In September 2017, Boyde made an unannounced return to EastEnders and eventually departed on 28 December at the conclusion of his storyline - in which he was revealed as the boss of Max Branning in their vengeful plot to destroy the square.

Karen Henthorn is a British character actress who portrayed the role of Teresa Bryant in the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street. She appeared in the role briefly in 2007 and became a regular character in 2008. Her character was involved in major story lines. In late 2008, she left the show but returned on 13 April 2009. She then departed the show in 2010.
