The Beechfields Record Label was an American independent not-for-profit musician's cooperative record label, from Baltimore, Maryland, noted for an artist-centered approach to releasing records.
In 1994, Nestor formed Pupa's Window in Eldersburg, Maryland, mostly as a vehicle to document the recording process and produce lo-fi cassette recordings. Pupa's Window recorded music at the advent of cassette-based, lo-fi indie pop. The project had some early success on college radio, and later on, Pupa's Window records began to become more orchestrated, and involve other musicians. [1] [2] Shortly after joining The Beechfields Record Label in Baltimore, Maryland, Pupa's Window began to be regarded as one of the "best-kept indie-pop songwriter secrets in the city". [2] Their music draws comparison to Lou Barlow, Bill Callahan and Elliott Smith. [3] Pupa's Window released over eighteen home recordings, and collaborated with another Baltimore-based artist Private Eleanor. [4] Concurrently with this project, from 1998 to 2001, Nestor played in a shoegaze band, called Lowell. [2]
Pupa's Window is an American East Coast lo-fi musical act. and a member of The Seldon Plan Pupa's Window was formed in 1995 as a way to document recording processes and has released over 18 home-recorded records, some of which have received critical acclaim. Currently part of the Baltimore-based The Beechfields Record Label, Pupa's Window started in the mid-90's at the advent of cassette based lo-fi indie pop, although recent records have included more orchestration, experimental recording techniques and releases on CD. Often compared to Lou Barlow, Smog's Bill Callahan and Elliott Smith, Pupa's Window is regarded as one of Baltimore's "best-kept indie-pop songwriter secrets." The music of Pupa's Window is reflective of The Beechfields Record Label and has been called "a stripped-down, folky type of indie-pop with a freak factor provided by plenty of echoey production, a few odd instruments and sounds, and tape-loop tinkering."
Nestor joined the alt-rock group the Seldon Plan in 2002. [5] The group has released four albums, and two EPs. The band was part of the DIY movement, that had a revitalization in Baltimore music across the late 1990's through the mid 2000s. [6]

[2] In 2004, Baltimore musician Austin Stahl began working at Beechfields. [6] [8]
