Michael Rushton (born 1950 in Worthing, West Sussex, England) is a British drummer and vocalist, known for being a member of the blues-rock band Steamhammer [1] [2] and later indie bands.

Rushton was a member of several rock and blues bands in the mid to late 1960s. Steamhammer was formed in 1968 in Worthing, Rushton's birthplace. [3] He played drums on the debut 1969 Steamhammer album, aka Reflection. [4] [5]

Rushton is said to have been sacked from Steamhammer [4] and Mick Bradley took over as the drummer for the band after him. Rushton went to France and joined The Holly Guns, which disbanded in 1971. [6] Later he played in various indie bands during the 1980s onwards. He has been a drummer and vocalist for Baroque Bordello and Les Innocents. [4] He is sometimes credited as "Michaël Rushton".

Steamhammer was an English blues rock band from Worthing, England, whose origins were with the blues. The band was founded in 1968 by Martin Quittenton (guitar) and Kieran White. The first stable line-up consisted of Quittenton, White, Martin Pugh (guitar), Steve Davy (bass), and Michael Rushton (drums).

Steamhammer was the debut album issued in 1969 by the British blues-rock band Steamhammer. Steamhammer was chosen as legendary blues guitarist Freddy King's backing band whenever he toured England. The musicians in the band were Martin Quittenton (guitar), Kieran White, Martin Pugh (guitar), Steve Davy (bass), and Michael Rushton (drums). The album includes classic blues numbers by B.B. King and Eddie Boyd, as well as compositions by band members White, Quittenton, and Pugh. The session musicians Harold McNair (flute) and Pete Sears (piano) also appear on the album.

Kieran Raymond White was an English baritone rock vocalist and guitarist. He sang and played in the blues-rock band Steamhammer, formed in 1968. Their debut album, Steamhammer. was released in 1969, on which White co-wrote many of the songs and played harmonica.

Counterparts are a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in 2007 in Hamilton, Ontario which currently consists of vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarists Alex Re and Blake Hardman, bassist Tyler Williams and drummer Kyle Brownlee. Their two most recent albums, released through Victory Records and Pure Noise Records, have received critical acclaim from Rock Sound and Exclaim! magazines. They are among the most visible bands within contemporary melodic hardcore, while they are also considered one of the major powers of the metalcore revival wave.

The Origin (band)

The Origin was an American alternative/indie rock/power pop band formed in San Diego, California in 1985. The classic line-up of the band consisted of Michael Andrews, Topper Rimel, Rony Abada, and Daniel Silverman. During the band's active years in the early nineties, they released two full-length albums and five singles, with two singles charting in the top 20 of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. They broke up in 1993.
