Michael Waxman is American director and producer of film and television. He is best known for his collaborations with film director Michael Mann, as well as for directing episodes of: Friday Night Lights , Trauma , The Event and Prime Suspect .

Life and career

Waxman was raised in Brooklyn, New York and is a graduate of Brooklyn College. [1]

In film, he worked as an assistant director for every film directed by Michael Mann, dating back to Manhunter (1986). [2]

His other film credits as an assistant director include When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Drop Dead Fred (1991), Highway to Hell (1992), Rudy (1993), Monkey Trouble (1994) and producing and assistant directing the films A Low Down Dirty Shame (1994). Celtic Pride (1996) and Metro (1997). [2]

In 2006, Waxman became an assistant director on the television series Friday Nights Lights . [1] He made the head directorial debut of his career on that series in 2008 going on to direct eleven episodes including the series finale. In 2011, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on the series as a producer. [3]

His other television directing credits include Trauma , Parenthood , Breakout Kings , The Event , Prime Suspect , Awake , Grimm , Once Upon a Time , 12 Monkeys and Chicago Med .

Personal life

Waxman met his wife Linda on set of the film Manhunter. They married in 1988. [1]

Manhunter is a 1986 American neo-noir psychological thriller film written and directed by Michael Mann and based on the 1981 novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris; it stars William Petersen as FBI profiler Will Graham. Also featured are Tom Noonan as serial killer Francis Dollarhyde, Dennis Farina as Graham's FBI superior Jack Crawford, and Brian Cox as incarcerated killer Hannibal Lecktor. The film focuses on Graham coming out of retirement to lend his talents to an investigation on Dollarhyde, a killer known as the Tooth Fairy. In doing so, he must confront the demons of his past and meet with Lecktor, who nearly counted Graham among his victims.

Adam Arkin American actor and director

Adam Arkin is an American television, film and stage actor, and director. He is known for playing the role of Aaron Shutt on Chicago Hope. He has been nominated for numerous awards, including a Tony as well as three primetime Emmys, four SAG Awards, and a DGA Award. In 2002, Arkin won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Children's Special for My Louisiana Sky. He is also one of the three actors to portray Dale "The Whale" Biederbeck on Monk. Kyle Martin Chandler is an American actor.
