Tim DuBois produced the album with Rick Giles and Sixwire member Steve Mandile on all tracks except "I Break Things", which he co-produced with Tony Brown.

The song was written about her then-boyfriend Bob Page. Instead of replacing him with a new member, the band hired several session bassists to play the album's bass parts.
