Mickey Peters (born August 17, 1980) is a former American football wide receiver in the Arena Football League who played for the Tampa Bay Storm. [1] He played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. [2]

Eugene Thurman Upshaw Jr., also known as "Uptown Gene" and "Highway 63", was an American professional football player for the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League (AFL) and later the National Football League (NFL). He later served as the executive director of the National Football League Players' Association (NFLPA). Upshaw was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987 and is also the only player in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl with the same team in three different decades.
Kliff Timothy Kingsbury is an American football coach and former quarterback who is the head coach for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He was previously a collegiate football coach from 2008 to 2018, where he achieved recognition for his development of quarterback prospects. During his collegiate career, Kingsbury served as the offensive quality control coach for two-time Sammy Baugh Trophy winner Case Keenum at Houston, the offensive coordinator for Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel at Texas A&M, and the head coach for Sammy Baugh Trophy winner and future NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech. Kingsbury was named the head coach of the Cardinals in 2019, whom he led to the playoffs during the 2021 season.

He was originally drafted by the Texans in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football for Texas Tech where he was a record setting passer. Symons never played in a regular-season NFL game.

The team competes as a member of the Big 12 Conference, which is a Division I Football Bowl Subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). On November 8, 2021, Joey McGuire was hired as the team's 17th head football coach, replacing Matt Wells, who was fired in the middle of the 2021 season. After playing he became coach of Wakefield Trinity from 1996 to 1997.
The 2002 Tangerine Bowl was the 13th edition of the college football bowl game formerly known as Blockbuster / Carquest / MicronPC Bowl. This was the second under the "Tangerine Bowl" moniker, a reference to the original name of the Citrus Bowl, known as the Tangerine Bowl from 1947 to 1982. It was played on December 23, 2002, and featured the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Clemson Tigers.
The 1994 Texas Tech Red Raiders football team represented Texas Tech University in the Southwest Conference (SWC) during the 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their eighth season under head coach Spike Dykes, the Red Raiders compiled a 6–6 record and finished in a tie for second place in the conference. However, Texas A&M was on probation and ineligible for the conference championship or post-season play, which meant that the Red Raiders were awarded a share of the Southwest Conference championship. Per SWC rules, TTU was selected to represent the conference in the 1995 Cotton Bowl Classic since the Red Raiders had not played in the bowl game since 1939, and had never played in the game as a member of the SWC. Tech outscored opponents by a combined total of 312 to 246. The team played its home games at Clifford B. and Audrey Jones Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.

The 2008 Texas vs. Texas Tech football game was a Big 12 Conference college football game played between the Texas Longhorns and Texas Tech Red Raiders at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas. The game was played on November 1 and was one of the most memorable games in the two teams' rivalry. Heading into the game, both teams were undefeated at 8–0. However, a big difference between the teams was their rankings in the AP poll. Texas came into this game as the number 1 ranked team in the nation, led by coach Mack Brown. The Red Raiders, unlike their rivals, were not in the top 3. Instead, they came into the game ranked number 6 in the country. In the game, the Red Raiders stunned the Longhorns 39–33 on a last second touchdown pass. The game appeared over on the previous play, but Texas dropped an interception. The game has gone down as one of the greatest upsets in the rivalry's history and was crucial in a 3-way tie that happened in the Big 12 at the end of the season.

They finished the season 6–7, 3–6 in Big 12 play to finish in eighth place. They were invited to the Birmingham Bowl where they lost to South Florida.
