Miguel Merz (born 9 June 1967) is a Salvadoran former professional tennis player. [1]
Born in Switzerland to German parents, Merz was an immigrant to El Salvador and represented his adoptive country in a total of 31 Davis Cup ties. [2] He won 38 matches in his Davis Cup career, 23 in singles and 15 in doubles.
Merz, a right-handed player, competed on the professional tour during the 1990s. He reached a career best singles ranking of 254 in the world, which was highest attained by a Salvadoran until beaten by Marcelo Arévalo. [3] His best ATP Tour performance was a second round appearance at the 1991 Geneva Open and he featured in the qualifying draw for the 1992 Wimbledon Championships.
Marcelo Andrés Ríos Mayorga is a Chilean former world No. 1 tennis player. He became the first Latin American player to reach the top position on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) singles rankings in March 1998, holding the spot for six weeks. He also held the top ranking in juniors. At 1.75 m, Ríos is the shortest man to hold the number 1 ranking in men's tennis.
Fernando Francisco González Ciuffardi is a Chilean former professional tennis player. During his career, he reached at least the quarterfinals of all four major tournaments. He contested his only major final at the 2007 Australian Open, losing to top-seeded Roger Federer. González is the fourth man in history to have won an Olympic tennis medal in every color, with gold in doubles and bronze in singles at Athens 2004, and silver in singles at Beijing 2008. The gold medal that González won partnering Nicolás Massú at the 2004 Olympics in men's doubles was Chile's first-ever Olympic gold medal. During his career, González defeated many top players, including Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moyá, Gustavo Kuerten, Marat Safin, Pete Sampras, and Andy Murray. González qualified twice for the year-end Masters Cup event and was runner-up at two Masters Series tournaments. González was known for having one of the strongest forehands on the tour. In Spanish he is nicknamed El Bombardero de La Reina and Mano de Piedra.
Nicolás Alejandro Massú Fried, nicknamed El Vampiro, is a Chilean former professional tennis player and a coach. A former world No. 9 in singles, he won the singles and doubles gold medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He is the only man to have won both gold medals at the same Games since the re-introduction of Olympic tennis in 1988, and they were the first two Chile's Olympic gold medals. Massú also reached the final of the 2003 Madrid Masters and won six singles titles. He was the coach of 2020 US Open champion and former world No. 3 Dominic Thiem from 2019 to 2023.

Francisco Javier Clavet González de Castejón, known as Pato Clavet, is a former professional tennis player from Spain. He won eight singles titles, reached the semifinals of the 1992 Indian Wells Masters and the 1999 Miami Masters, and achieved a career-high ranking of world No. 18 in July 1992. He reached No. 16 at the Champions Race, after winning in Scottsdale in 2001.

Matwé Middelkoop is a Dutch professional tennis player who specialises in doubles. He has won 14 doubles titles on the ATP Tour, most notably the 2022 Rotterdam Open alongside Robin Haase, and reached a career high doubles ranking of world No. 18 on 6 February 2023.
Rafael Arévalo González is a retired professional tennis player from El Salvador. The majority of Arévalo's professional career has been restricted to playing on the Futures (ITF) circuit, with a further 22 appearances for the El Salvador Davis Cup team; he also had modest success in the juniors, reaching a peak of No. 10 in 2004. However, in 2008, aided by the Salvadoran Tennis Federation, he was awarded an invitation to the 2008 Beijing Olympics tennis tournament. The Tripartite Commission, which issued the invitation, is composed of representatives from International Olympic Committee (IOC), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), and the International Tennis Federation (ITF). It is standard practice to award such invitations to countries with small Olympic teams. Arévalo was the first player from El Salvador to represent the country in a tennis competition at the Olympics. Arévalo defeated South Korea's Lee Hyung-taik in three sets in the first round, before being beaten by Swiss World No. 1 Roger Federer in the second. Later that year, Arévalo won his only ATP Challenger Tour match, beating Borja Malo in Quito, before losing to Julio Cesar Campozano.

Víctor Estrella Burgos is a Dominican former professional tennis player. In 2014, Estrella became the first Dominican to reach the top 100 in the ATP rankings. He also became the first Dominican player to reach the semifinals in an ATP 250 tournament in Bogotá. In 2015, he also became the first tennis player from his country to participate in all four Grand Slams, playing in the Australian Open. In February 2015, he won his first career ATP title at the Ecuador Open, becoming the oldest first-time ATP tour winner in the Open Era. He successfully defended his title with a 100% winning record at the event in 2016 and 2017, but lost in the second round in 2018.
Hans Podlipnik Castillo is a Chilean retired tennis player of Slovenian descent. His best results are in doubles, winning one ATP World Tour and reaching another final in this category, besides from winning 19 Challengers and 29 Futures. In singles, he won 23 Futures and reaching in 2015 the final in the Poprad-Tatry Challenger.

He has been ranked as high as world No. 5 in doubles by the ATP, achieved on 14 November 2022 and No. 139 in singles, attained in April 2018, making him the highest-ranked player, male or female, across both disciplines in Salvadoran tennis history.
Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela Martínez is a Mexican professional tennis player who specializes in doubles. He has a career-high ATP doubles ranking of world No. 49, achieved on 20 August 2018. In singles his best ranking is No. 400, achieved on 17 June 2013. He has won two doubles ATP titles and has played multiple seasons of the Davis Cup, including on the 2011 Mexican Davis Cup squad.

Giuliana Marion Olmos Dick is an Austrian-born Mexican professional tennis player. Olmos, a graduate of USC, has a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 6, achieved on 10 April 2023 by the WTA. She has won six doubles titles on the WTA Tour. With her partner Desirae Krawczyk, she became the first Mexican player in the Open Era to reach a WTA Tour final, at the 2018 Monterrey Open. In 2019, she became the first Mexican player to win a title on WTA Tour, taking the doubles crown at the Nottingham Open. In 2020, she became the first Mexican woman to win the Mexican Open, also with Krawczyk. In 2022, she became the first Mexican woman to enter the top 10 in the WTA rankings in either singles or doubles. She has a best singles ranking of world No. 343, achieved on 4 March 2019, and has won four singles titles on the ITF Circuit.
