Rugby league is a sport played in Wales. The governing body of the game in Wales is the Wales Rugby League.
Thomas Patrick David is a Welsh former dual-code international rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He played representative rugby union (RU) for Wales and the British Lions and rugby league (RL) for Wales. He was selected for the 1974 British Lions tour to South Africa, and at the time played club rugby for Llanelli RFC. He also played for his home-town club Pontypridd RFC, and while at the club was part of the 1976 Grand Slam winning Wales team. In 1981 he switched codes to rugby league, representing Cardiff City Blue Dragons.

He played representative level rugby union (RU) for Wales, and at club level for Felinfoel RFC and Llanelli RFC, as a wing, i.e. number 11 or 14, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Great Britain and Wales, and at club level for St. Helens and Cardiff City (Bridgend) Blue Dragons, as a wing, or loose forward, i.e. number 2 or 5, or 13, during the era of contested scrums.
Cardiff City Blue Dragons were a rugby league team formed in 1981. Their home ground was Ninian Park, which was also used by Cardiff City F.C.. The club spent three seasons in Cardiff before relocating to Bridgend in 1984 as the Bridgend Blue Dragons, and were finally wound up in 1986. The team colours were royal blue shirts with a yellow and white vee. The shorts and socks were also blue.

He captained the Welsh Schools Under-15's in 1971, and played for Wales Youth in 1973. At club level he played rugby union (RU) for Neath RFC, Crynant RFC, Ystradgynlais RFC, Abercrave RFC and Neath Athletic RFC, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales, and at club level for Wigan, Huddersfield and Cardiff City (Bridgend) Blue Dragons, as a scrum-half, i.e. number 7.

In rugby union (RU), he played as a number eight, fly-half, centre, wing and fullback. In rugby league (RL), he played as a fullback, i.e. number 1.

South Wales RLFC was a rugby league club formed in 1995. South Wales during their existence played at Morfa Stadium, Swansea, the Talbot Athletic Ground, Aberavon and Cardiff Arms Park.
