Michael C. Kasem (born August 24, 1973) [1] is an American television presenter, actor, and radio DJ on Mediacorp Radio's Gold 905FM Live with Mike & Vernetta with co-host Vernetta Lopez.

Early life and family

Born in Los Angeles County, California, [1] Kasem is the son of the American disc jockey and radio personality Casey Kasem and his first wife, Linda Myers. [2] [3] Kasem has two sisters, Julie and radio and television personality Kerri Kasem. [2]

Career

Radio DJ

Mike Kasem started his Singapore radio career in 2011 when he joined Mediacorp Radio's Class 95FM co-hosting with Jean Danker. He later moved to Mediacorp Radio's Gold 905FM co-hosting the morning drive time show The Mike & Joe Xperiment with Joe Augustin. In 2016, Kasem paired with Vernetta Lopez to co-host the morning drive-time show Live with Mike & Vernetta on Gold 905FM. [4] [5]

Actor

Kasem made his film acting debut in 2014 in the feature film Afterimages, [6] playing the character Harrison. Kasem also starred in the 2015 period drama movie 1965 .

Television presenter

Kasem was an MTV VJ on MTV Asia from 1994 to 1999 hosting MTV's Most Wanted, among other shows. He has hosted/presented and acted in numerous TV show's for Mediacorp Channel 5 and is currently a full-time employee of Mediacorp in Singapore. Kasem along with former radio show co-host Jean Danker hosted the Singapore 2016 New Year's Eve Countdown Show. [7]

Personal life

Kasem married Singaporean television presenter and former professional golfer Su Ann Heng in 2019 after three years of dating. [8] The couple had a son on June 25, 2020. [9] In June 2023, Heng announced on Instagram that the couple were separating. [10]

Casey's Top 40 was a syndicated radio music program that was distributed by the Westwood One radio network. The show was a vehicle for former American Top 40 host and co-creator Casey Kasem and ran for over nine years. Like Kasem's prior show, Casey's Top 40 aired on weekends, emanated from Hollywood, California, and was a countdown of the 40 biggest hits of the week on the popular music chart. However, unlike American Top 40, this show is not replayed or syndicated, whereas the former is still currently being replayed and syndicated.

American Top 20 was the name given to two weekly spinoffs of the music countdown program American Top 40. They were both hosted by Casey Kasem for Premiere Networks and premiered on the weekend of March 28, 1998, the same weekend Kasem returned to host American Top 40.

Oli 968 is an infotainment radio station in the Tamil language owned by Mediacorp playing for the Indian community in Singapore offering the latest Tamil songs, regional Indian songs, local and international news, lifestyle features and Indian contemporary and classical hits of 24 hours a day. It used to be the only station in Singapore where all of its shows were presenter-led, especially during the early hours. This has since changed as it airs non-stop music and podcasts of earlier aired programs after 1:00am on weekdays while non-stop music airs uninterrupted on weekends.

WQMA was a broadcast radio station licensed to Marks, Mississippi. The station was owned by Jason Konarz with an oldies format on 1520 kHz. Its F.C.C. license was cancelled May 31, 2006. WQMA had operated under Special Temporary Authority from the F.C.C., but it was denied August 20, 2010. The station exhausted its appeal options, and its application for license renewal was dismissed by the FCC on May 20, 2015.

Sabo is a Singaporean web series which was launched on 6 April 2015 and hosted by Mike Kasem. It is the first web series to be launched on Mediacorp interactive service Toggle, following the closure of xinmsn. The series is a reality hidden-camera show which pranks Mediacorp artistes and local celebs unsuspectingly.
