Michael Richard Lewis (born 17 August 1977) [1] is a Welsh musician. He is best known as the former rhythm guitarist for the Welsh alternative rock band Lostprophets, Welsh/American alternative rock band No Devotion and hardcore punk band Public Disturbance.
Lewis studied civil engineering for a year before turning to music. His mother was a shop assistant, and his father worked in management for a chemical company. Lewis attended Hawthorn High School in Pontypridd. His favourite subjects were Science and History. His first concert, as a concertgoer, came when he saw Tesla at St David's Hall.
Before Lostprophets formed, Lewis was in a band called Public Disturbance. He was initially the original bassist for Lostprophets, but soon became the rhythm guitarist, with Stuart Richardson replacing him on the bass guitar. [2] After the split of Lostprophets in 2013, Lewis became the manager to a few smaller bands.
On 1 May 2014, it was announced that the former members of Lostprophets (including Lewis) have formed a new band and are writing new music. [3] [4] On 1 July 2014, the new band No Devotion released their first single, "Stay" and have since released their debut album, Permanence .
Lee Gaze confirmed that keyboardist Jamie Oliver had departed from the band while also stating that Lewis had not left the band, but he had not worked with the other band members on the following album No Oblivion . [5]
In September 2006, Lewis married his girlfriend, Amber (née Payne). [6] They have a daughter, Gwyneth, and now reside in Malibu, a few streets away from bandmates Jamie Oliver and Stuart Richardson. [7] Amber runs Shoppe Amber Interiors. [8] [9]
Lewis is an avid Star Trek fan and owns a Star Trek uniform. He is a lifelong Everton fan. He surfs Santa Monica beach almost every day when he is at home. Lewis has stated on his Facebook page he is vegan. [10]
Lostprophets were a Welsh rock band from Pontypridd, formed in 1997 by singer Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze. The group was founded after their former band Fleshbind broke up. They later recruited Mike Lewis on guitars, Stuart Richardson on bass and Mike Chiplin on drums.
Lee James Gaze is a Welsh musician. He is the lead guitarist, and one of the founding members, of the Welsh/American alternative rock band No Devotion, and a former member of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets.
Stuart Richardson is a Welsh musician. He is the bassist for the rock band No Devotion, formed by former members of Lostprophets with Geoff Rickly of Thursday. He is also the touring bassist for Thursday.
Richard James Oliver, formerly known as Jamie Oliver, is a Welsh artist and former musician. He is known as the former keyboardist of No Devotion and former keyboardist, turntablist and supporting vocalist for the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. Oliver quit the music industry in 2017 in order to focus on his art career.
Ian David Karslake Watkins is a Welsh former musician. He was the lead singer and frontman of the rock band Lostprophets, which he co-founded with Lee Gaze in 1997. His career ended after he was sentenced to 29 years' imprisonment in 2013 for multiple sex offences, including the sexual assault of young children and infants, a sentence later increased by ten months for having a mobile phone in prison. His bandmates disbanded Lostprophets shortly after his conviction and formed No Devotion with American singer Geoff Rickly.
"Last Train Home" is the second single from Start Something, the second album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. This single was the band's highest charting single in the UK up to that point, later tied with "Rooftops " off of their follow-up. It quickly became their most successful single in the United States, reaching number one on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. "Last Train Home" was released to radio on 27 December 2003.
"Burn Burn" is the first single from Start Something, the second album from the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. The video for the single was filmed in The Roundhouse, Camden, London.
"Wake Up (Make a Move)" is the third single from Start Something, the second album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. "Wake Up (Make a Move)" was released to radio on 1 June 2004. This single was under much debate up to its release; both Lostprophets and their management wanted the dark, brooding "Make a Move" as a single, whereas the label wanted the poppier, catchier "I Don't Know". The band and their management walked away victorious and the song was released as a single with the modified title "Wake Up (Make a Move)". However, "I Don't Know" was later released for radio airplay in the U.S. and made it to #11 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.
"Last Summer" is the fourth single from Start Something, the second album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. The previous singles, "Burn Burn", "Last Train Home" and "Wake Up " had all been highly successful on both sides of the Atlantic so this single was under similar pressure; it reached number 13 in the UK Singles Chart. The song describes the band members enjoying past memories of visiting towns in South Wales such as the seaside town of Porthcawl.
"Goodbye Tonight" is the fifth single from Start Something, the second album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. The single was fairly unsuccessful in comparison to the other singles such as "Burn Burn" and "Last Train Home". The video for "Goodbye Tonight" stars, along with the band, Mikey Way (from My Chemical Romance) and Adam Lazzara (from Taking Back Sunday), respectively.
"Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja" is a song by Welsh rock band Lostprophets. The song was released in 2001 as the first single from the band's debut studio album, The Fake Sound of Progress. It was the only charting single on the Billboard charts from the album, and was still on the band's tour setlist until they broke up in 2013.
"Can't Catch Tomorrow (Good Shoes Won't Save You This Time)" is the third single from the album Liberation Transmission, the third studio album by Welsh rock band Lostprophets. It entered the UK singles chart at 35, the lowest position yet for a single from Liberation Transmission.
"Where We Belong" is the second single from the album The Betrayed, the fourth studio album by Welsh rock band Lostprophets. It was released on 4 January 2010. Vocalist Ian Watkins commented to Kerrang!: "Where We Belong might sound really happy and catchy, but if you really listen to the lyrics I could be saying that we belong in hell." The single reached No. 32 on the Official UK top 40 on 10 January 2010. The track was described by the band as their "love letter to being home," having written the song after returning to their native Wales after recording in Los Angeles.
"4:AM Forever" is the fourth and the final single from the album Liberation Transmission, the third studio album by Welsh rock band Lostprophets. It was released on 23 April 2007.
"The Fake Sound of Progress" is the second single from Welsh rock band Lostprophets' debut album The Fake Sound of Progress and received less attention than the band's debut single, "Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja."

Weapons is the fifth and final studio album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. It was released through Epic Records on 2 April 2012. It was the first and only record featuring Luke Johnson on drums, after being with two other drummers previously, Mike Chiplin and Ilan Rubin. This was the last album to ever be released by the band before lead vocalist Ian Watkins was convicted of numerous sex offences, which led to their disbandment.
"We Bring an Arsenal" is the second single from Weapons, the fifth studio album by Welsh rock band Lostprophets, released 4 June 2012. It was first played live on 25 February 2012 at Brisbane, Australia.
