- What's Your Beef? sponsored by Brown's Chicken: Callers voiced what was "beefing" them in the world of sports. The best "beefs" deemed by Murph won gift certificates to Brown's. [2]
- Tool Of The Week sponsored by RentalMax: Callers voiced what figure in the world of sports who had, through their actions or words, proved to be the biggest tool in the past week. The figure with the most votes was deemed "tool of the week".
- Stat Of The Week with John Dewan: Chicago sports statistician John Dewan, owner of Baseball Info Solutions, called Murph every Tuesday to give an insightful sports statistic.
- Swami Murph: The swami and his caller guest swamis gave their humorous predictions, always prefaced with "I predict...."
- Compressed Columns: Murphy reviewed sports columns of interest to him that appeared in that morning's newspapers, stating that he did so for those who did not have time to read them.
- Murph Moment: a personal opinion segment.
- Murph Minute: Murphy talked Cubs post-season baseball; also used as a promotional announcement during other programs.
- Random Tapes: A segment when an old tape recording, somewhat relevant to a current sports event, was played.
- The Fans' Court: "Judge Murphy" took calls from "jurors" on who was to blame for a sports debacle.
- Sports Spurts: Originally, callers were required to recite a grammatically correct sentence on a sports topic, making various spitting sounds for the punctuation; however, when brought back after a 5-year hiatus, most of the rules about grammar and punctuation were abolished, the only requirement being one simple sentence.

In June 2009, it was announced that Murphy's program would be dropped from WSCR's lineup later that month to make room for Dan McNeil's "Danny Mac Show." [3] It was subsequently disclosed that he remained off the air since then, and that his contract expired in May, 2010. [4]
In June 2010, Murphy sued WSCR's ownership, CBS Radio, over a right of first refusal clause in their contract that prevented him from seeking employment within 50 miles of the station for 90 days before and 6 months after terminating employment with CBS Radio, unless he gave CBS the right to match the offer. [4]
Mike Murphy returned to radio on WMVP-AM (1000) on Sunday April 23, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the baseball season. His co-hosts the show with Fred Huebner, whom he previously co-hosted with at WSCR. [5] [6]
On August 30, 2012, a conversation during an episode of the Boers and Bernstein radio show on the Score between Dan Bernstein, Laurence Holmes and Matt Abattacola, revealed that a regular contributor to Murphy's show was fictional. During many of Murphy's shows, Murphy would read emails he said were from a long time listener named Kenny Owens. However, Kenny Owens was a fictional character created by Murphy, whose emails were sent from Murphy's wife's email address, according to Abattacola (Murphy's email screener at the time). Upon finding this out, Rock Mamola, a member of Murphy's production staff at the time, called in using the moniker 'Kenny Owens' and outed Murphy's fabrication. [7]

WBBM – branded Newsradio 780 and 105.9 FM WBBM – is a commercial all-news radio station licensed to serve Chicago, Illinois. Owned by Audacy, Inc., its studios are located at Two Prudential Plaza in the Chicago Loop, while the station transmitter—diplexed with sister station WSCR—resides in the nearby suburb of Bloomingdale.
The Jim Rome Show is a sports radio talk show hosted by Jim Rome. It airs live for three hours each weekday from 9 a.m. to noon Pacific Time. The show is produced in Los Angeles, syndicated by CBS Sports Radio, and can be heard on affiliate radio stations in the U.S. and Canada. In January 2018, the show began simulcasting on television on CBS Sports Network.
WCFS-FM – branded Newsradio 780 and 105.9 FM WBBM – is a commercial all-news radio station licensed to serve Elmwood Park, Illinois. Owned by Audacy, Inc., the station services the Chicago metropolitan area operating as a full-time simulcast of WBBM.
WYLL is a commercial AM radio station in Chicago, Illinois. It is owned by Salem Communications and airs a Christian talk and teaching radio format. The studios and offices are located in Elk Grove Village. Its daytime transmitter and two-tower array are located off Ballard Road near Interstate 294 in Des Plaines. The nighttime transmitter and six-tower array are off Deer Drive near Interstate 355 in Lockport. WYLL is powered with 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations in the U.S. But it must use a directional antenna at all times to protect clear-channel station KSL in Salt Lake City, the dominant Class A station and several Class B stations on 1160 AM.
Chuck Swirsky is an American-Canadian radio sports announcer. He is the play-by-play voice of the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Swirsky's association with Chicago sports started in 1979 with his WCFL AM 1000 talk show which debuted on August 27 of that year. Outside Chicago, Swirsky called play-by-play for both University of Michigan basketball and football and was formerly the play-by-play voice of the Toronto Raptors.
WSCR – branded as 670 The Score – is a commercial sports radio station licensed to serve Chicago, Illinois, servicing the Chicago metropolitan area and much of surrounding Northern Illinois, Northwest Indiana and parts of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. David Kaplan is an American Cubs fan, columnist, radio and television personality who currently co-hosts Kap and J. Hood weekday mornings from 7-10 a.m. CST on ESPN 1000. He is the host of Unfiltered with David Kaplan on NBC Sports Chicago which airs weeknights at 6:00 p.m. He also hosts The Football Aftershow, which airs after every Chicago Bears game on NBC Sports Chicago. Matt Spiegel is a sports talk show host and singer based in Chicago. He served as a host on The Score SportsRadio 670 off and on since 2009. As of 2021, he is the current drive time host with Danny Parkins. He has also served as a fill-in broadcaster on the Chicago Cubs Radio Network.
Danny Marcellus Jiggetts is a retired American football offensive lineman. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 1976 NFL Draft.
WTSO is a commercial AM radio station in Madison, Wisconsin. The station is owned and operated by iHeartMedia, Inc., and airs a sports format. From 2014 until February 1, 2020, WTSO was simulcast on FM translator W265CV at 100.9 MHz. W265CV now airs a 1960s-1970s oldies format as "U-100.9".
Bruce Wolf is a veteran Chicago broadcaster and sports anchor who has been on both TV and radio for more than 20 years. He formerly hosted a politics-themed talk show weekday mornings on WLS (AM) radio in Chicago. He also fills in as a sportscaster on WMAQ-TV in Chicago and works part-time as a divorce attorney.

Boers and Bernstein was an afternoon drive-time sports talk show on Chicago's WSCR hosted by former Chicago Sun-Times columnist Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein. The pairing debuted in 1999 and originally aired from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., then aired from 10a-2p and 2p-6p until moving to its final 1p-6p time slot in 2009, making it the longest-running sports talk program in Chicago. Boers and Bernstein's final show was officially December 22, 2016.
Phil Kosin was an American journalist, columnist, radio host, commentator, blogger and newspaper publisher from Chicago. In 1989 he founded the Chicagoland Golf newspaper, serving as its editor and publisher until his death.
Mike North is an American radio sports personality, formerly working for Clear Channel Communications as a cohost with Andy Furman on Fox Sports Daybreak Mon-Friday from 5am-8am CST on their Fox Sports Radio subsidiary, until this program was cancelled in September, 2016. North currently writes a column, The Rebel Inside, twice a week for the Daily Herald and does videos three days a week for their web site about current sports topics. He was the co-host of the Monsters in the Morning with Dan Jiggetts on Comcast SportsNet Chicago in 2009 and was a sports talk radio show host at WSCR "The Score 670" in Chicago from 1992 to 2008 along with Doug Buffone. He was also the color man for the Chicago Rush AFL team for two seasons alongside Tom Dore. He was the co-host of Monsters and Money in the Morning on WBBM-TV CBS 2 Chicago until its cancellation in 2010.
The Chicago White Sox Radio Network is an American radio network airing baseball games from the Chicago White Sox. The English-language flagship is WMVP in Chicago, with Spanish language coverage airing on WRTO (1200). The English language network consists of 19 stations For the 2019 season, the play-by-play announcers were Ed Farmer and Jason Benetti ; the color commentator was Darrin Jackson. Farmer died on April 1, 2020 after a long-term battle with polycystic kidney disease. Pre-game host Andy Masur substituted for Farmer during 2020's truncated spring training, and was named as Farmer's successor on June 30, 2020, a role that would be temporary due to the team's radio rights expiring at the end of the season.
