Milan Jazbec is a Slovenian diplomat, professor, journalist and politician. Between 8 of December 2000 and 31. of October 2004 he worked on the Slovenian Ministry of Defense.On 19 February 2017 he officially announced his candidacy for the 5th President of Slovenia on the Slovenian presidential election 2017 as an Independent candidate.

Career

Yugoslav period

During his studies in 1981 he was designated for propaganda and information in the Republican Committee of the Union of Socialist Youth of Slovenia (RK ZSMS). In between 1982 and 1985 he was committed to informing of the employees of the Krško paper mill. In 1987 he applied for a position in the Yugoslav diplomacy and was successful along with three other Slovenians. Until 1991 he worked at the Federal Secretariat for Foreign Affairs in Belgrade and after the Independence of Slovenia in June of the same year, he returned to Ljubljana, but soon continued his path in Klagenfurt, where he took charge of the consulate of his young home country of Slovenia. Republic of Slovenia

After the expiry of the mandate in 1995 and a short stop at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Ljubljana, his diplomatic path led him to Stockholm where he spent four years as Minister Plenipotentiary for the five Nordic and the three Baltic countries. In December 2000, he moved to the Slovenian Ministry of Defense, where he was a state secretary in charge of internal relations. From 2006 to 2010, he took over the management of the sector for Policy Planning and Research at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The net position he took was an ambassadorial position in Turkey, which was followed by an ambassadorial position in Macedonia. [2] In April 2017 Jazbec flew to Slovenia and announced his candidacy for the 5th President of Slovenia on the Slovenian presidential election 2017 as an Independent candidate. [3]

Zoran Janković (politician) Slovenian businessman and politician

Zoran Janković is a Slovene businessman and politician. He came to prominence in 1997 as the president of the Slovenian retail company Mercator. From October 2006 to December 2011, he was mayor of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. In October 2011, he established the Positive Slovenia party, which won the plurality of votes at the early Slovenian 2011 parliamentary election. His function as a mayor ceased on 21 December 2011, when he became a deputy in the National Assembly. After he failed to be elected as the prime minister in the National Assembly, he was re-elected as the mayor of Ljubljana and retook the position on 11 April 2012. He is the first mayor of Ljubljana to have served two terms since the end of World War II.

2007 Slovenian presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Slovenia in October and November 2007 to elect the successor to the second President of Slovenia Janez Drnovšek. France Cukjati, the President of the National Assembly, called the elections on 20 June 2007.

2011 Slovenian parliamentary election

Parliamentary elections were held in Slovenia on 4 December 2011 to elect the 90 deputies of the National Assembly. This was the first early election in Slovenia's history. 65.60% of voters cast their vote. The election was surprisingly won by the center-left Positive Slovenia party, led by Zoran Janković. However, he failed to be elected as the new Prime Minister in the National Assembly, and the new government was formed by a right-leaning coalition of five parties, led by Janez Janša, the president of the second-placed Slovenian Democratic Party.

2012 Slovenian presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Slovenia on 11 November 2012, with a run-off held on 2 December 2012. Slovenia's 1.7 million registered voters chose between the incumbent president Danilo Türk, the SDS/NSi party candidate Milan Zver and Borut Pahor of the Social Democrats who was also supported by the Civic List. The first round was won, contrary to the opinion poll predictions, by Pahor, with Türk placing second. In the run-off election, Pahor won with roughly two-thirds of the vote.

The second Karzai cabinet was the cabinet of Afghanistan that led the government from the re-election of president Hamid Karzai in 2009 until the end of his term in 2014. The cabinet consisted of the president, his two vice-presidents, 18 ministers who received approval from the Afghan Parliament, and 7 acting ministers who have not been approved.

2018 Slovenian parliamentary election

Parliamentary elections were held in Slovenia on 3 June 2018. The elections were originally expected to be held later in June 2018, but after the resignation of Prime Minister Miro Cerar on 14 March 2018 all parties called for snap elections. They were the third consecutive snap elections after 2011 and 2014.

2017 Slovenian presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Slovenia on 22 October 2017. Nine candidates ran in the elections, including the incumbent President of Slovenia Borut Pahor. No candidate received a majority of the vote, resulting in a run-off between Pahor and Marjan Šarec that was held on 12 November 2017. Pahor won the run-off with 53% of the vote; voter turnout in the second round was 42.13%, the lowest in any presidential election since independence.

The Left (Slovenia)

The Left is an eco-socialist and democratic socialist political party in Slovenia. The party was established on 24 June 2017 by the merger of the Party for Sustainable Development of Slovenia (TRS) and Initiative for Democratic Socialism (IDS). The party is a successor of the left-wing electoral alliance, the United Left.

2019 Sri Lankan presidential election

The 2019 Sri Lankan presidential election was the 8th presidential election, which was held on 16 November 2019. The incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena's term of office would have ended on 9 January 2020. This was the first Presidential election in Sri Lanka where no sitting president, prime minister or opposition leader was contesting for president.
