The 2012 Milwaukee mayoral election was held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, to elect the mayor for Milwaukee. Incumbent mayor Tom Barrett was elected to a third term, defeating Edward McDonald. [1] This election coincided with other municipal elections, including an unopposed re-election bid for Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and contested elections for City Comptroller, City Treasurer, and the Common Council. Milwaukee Largest city in Wisconsin

Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin and the fifth-largest city in the Midwestern United States. The seat of the eponymous county, it is on Lake Michigan's western shore. Ranked by its estimated 2014 population, Milwaukee was the 31st largest city in the United States. The city's estimated population in 2017 was 595,351. Milwaukee is the main cultural and economic center of the Milwaukee metropolitan area which had a population of 2,043,904 in the 2014 census estimate. It is the second-most densely populated metropolitan area in the Midwest, surpassed only by Chicago. Milwaukee is considered a Gamma global city as categorized by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network with a regional GDP of over $105 billion.

Thomas Mark Barrett is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party who has served as the 44th and current Mayor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin since 2004. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1993 to 2003, and the Wisconsin State Senate from 1989 to 1993. He previously served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1984 until 1989.

The University of Wisconsin–Extension (UW–Extension) is the outreach arm of the University of Wisconsin System. It provides statewide access to university system's resources and research to Wisconsin residents of all ages. Fulfilling the promise of the Wisconsin Idea, UW–Extension extends the boundaries of the university to the boundaries of the state through its four divisions of Cooperative Extension, Continuing and Online Education, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Public Broadcasting. It was created as a division of UW–Madison in 1907, and took its new form in 1965 as an autonomous unit. The abolition of UW-Extension as a separate entity was begun July 1, 2018; phase 1 will last through June 30, 2019.

Barrett announced on March 30, 2012 that he will run in the Democratic primary for Governor in the recall election to face incumbent Scott Walker and subsequently lost. [6]

It is located at 5601 South 6th Street, just south of Wisconsin Highway 119, near the western edge of Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. The facility accommodates travelers who use the Hiawatha Service between Chicago Union Station and the Milwaukee Intermodal Station, and sees fourteen daily arrivals, seven each from Milwaukee and Chicago. There is a shuttle from the station to the airport terminal.

David A. Cullen is an American lawyer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Milwaukee County Treasurer. Prior to his election, Cullen served as a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly after winning a special election in May 1990. Cullen was elected in April 2012 to a seat on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, which he held until taking office as County Treasurer.

The 2012 Wisconsin gubernatorial recall election was a special election to elect the governor and lieutenant governor of Wisconsin. It resulted in voters re-electing incumbent Republican governor Scott Walker over the Democratic candidate Tom Barrett by a larger margin than he had in 2010, in which Walker had also faced Barrett. Recall organizers opposed Walker's agenda, particularly his limiting of collective bargaining rights for state employees and they collected over 900,000 signatures to initiate the recall election process. There was also a recall for Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch. She won her race, defeating Democrat Mahlon Mitchell, making her the first lieutenant governor to run in and survive a recall.

David Bowen is an American politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is the former administrator of a not-for-profit organization, a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, and the Democratic nominee for the Wisconsin State Assembly's 10th district. He had no opposition in the November 2014 general election ballot, and was elected as successor to retiring fellow Democrat Sandy Pasch.

Marina Dimitrijevic is the executive director of the Wisconsin Working Families Party and the former chairwoman of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Dimitrijevic served as board chairwoman from 2012 to 2015 and continues to represent Milwaukee County's 4th district on the board.

Tony Evers defeated Scott Walker to become governor-elect of Wisconsin, with his running mate Mandela Barnes becoming lieutenant governor-elect.

The 2016 Milwaukee mayoral election was held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, to elect the mayor for Milwaukee. Incumbent mayor Tom Barrett was elected to a fourth term, defeating Bob Donovan.

Matthew Joseph Flynn is an American attorney and politician from Wisconsin. Flynn served as chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin from 1981 to 1985 and as a partner in the Milwaukee law firm of Quarles & Brady. Flynn ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Wisconsin in 2018 and is a past unsuccessful candidate for federal office.
