Mimi Mihaylova Balkanska (1902 - 1984) was a Bulgarian opera singer. Her home in Sofia is national heritage and a Museum. [1]
Balkanska was born on 22 July 1902 in the Bulgarian town Ruse. She is the granddaughter of Nikola Balkanski, a cousin of Georgi Sava Rakovski. After her father passes away in 1907, her entire family moves to the capital - Sofia. From 1914 to 1917 she takes piano lessons with Heinrich Wiesner and singing with Penka Toromanova,a famous opera singer.
Mimi later specializes in singing in Berlin and Vienna. She marries twice. Her first husband is the trainer Ivan Tsatschev.
On the 23th of May, 1975 she is awarded with the honorary award of Socialist labor and named a Hero of Socialist Labor. She receives other awards like "Red Flag of Labor during 1959 and the "Kiril and Metodii" culture award.
Balkanska also receives other numerous Soviet and National awards like "best artist" in 1949, "national artist" in 1950 and "Dimitrovska nagrada" in 1950. [2]
She starts her career in 1916, taking part in the first ever contest for artists, choristers and orchestrates in the National Opera and Ballet of Bulgaria. She is 14 years old at the time. At the age of 17 years old, she sings in the Opera Theater "Renaissance"
She becomes a co-founder of the Sofia Musical Theater "Stefan Makedonski" in Sofia along with other famous artists at the time. It remains as the only theater in Sofia that has been playing musicals for more than 90 years. [3]
Balkanska is also one of the co-founders and the director of the Art Opera House in Sofia from 1942 to 1946. Afterwards, from 1948 until 1963 she works in the National Musical Theater in Sofia. She still remains as one of the most popular Opera singers in Bulgaria. [4]

The oldest treasure of worked gold in the world, dating back to the 5th millennium BC, comes from the site of the Varna Necropolis.
Emmerich Kálmán was a Hungarian composer of operettas and a prominent figure in the development of Viennese operetta in the 20th century. Among his most popular works are Die Csárdásfürstin (1915) and Gräfin Mariza (1924). Influences on his compositional style include Hungarian folk music, the Viennese style of precursors such as Johann Strauss II and Franz Lehár, and, in his later works, American jazz. As a result of the Anschluss, Kálmán and his family fled to Paris and then to the United States. He eventually returned to Europe in 1949 and died in Paris in 1953.

Valya Mladenova Balkanska is a Bulgarian folk music singer from the Rhodope Mountains known locally for her wide repertoire of Balkan folk songs, but in the West mainly for singing the song "Izlel ye Delyo Haydutin", part of the Voyager Golden Record selection of music included in the two Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977.

Teodora Rumenova Andreeva, better known by her stage name Andrea, is a Bulgarian pop-folk singer musician,songwriter and video director. She was also part of the famous group "Sahara", together with the Romanian Grammy Awards nominated producer Costi Ioniță they created the song "I wanna" in collaboration with Shaggy (musician) and Bob Sinclar. The song was distributed by Yellow Productions and Ministry of Sound Australia. The track was on the top charts of Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. "I wanna" is a confirmed international hit. From its release in 2010 till nowadays, it reached over 50 countries from Europe, Asia, South and North America, Africa and Australia. Some of these countries are: France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Belgium, The Netherlands, Monaco, USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Albania, Portugal, Brazil, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Romania, South Africa and many more. As for the radios, it was no. 21 on "Billboard" USA, no. 1 on "MTV Europe", no.6 on "Fun Radio" Belgium, no. 5 on "Number 1 FM " Top 40 Turkey and no.1 on Top 50 "Radio 21" Romania.
Highways in Bulgaria are dual carriageways, grade separated with controlled-access, designed for high speeds. In 2012, legislation amendments defined two types of highways: motorways and expressways. The main differences are that motorways have emergency lanes and the maximum allowed speed limit is 140 km/h (87 mph), while expressways do not and the speed limit is 120 km/h (75 mph). Desislava Ivanova Doneva, known by her stage names Desi Slava or DESS, is a Bulgarian singer-songwriter and producer. She was born in Radnevo, Bulgaria. Her first stage appearances began at an early age, when she would win awards at festivals for children. Shortly afterwards, she became the soloist of "Radnevo" orchestra. This led to her being noticed by one of the most famous Bulgarian folklore singers of all time – Valkana Stoyanova, who took her under her wing, coached her and declared Desislava as her possible music heir.
Vela Blagoeva was a Bulgarian writer, journalist and teacher and is noted as one of the founders of the women's movement in Bulgaria. After completing a basic education in the Ottoman Empire, she taught until she received a scholarship to further her education in Russia. While taking courses in the Russian normal school and pedagogy training courses, she became a socialist. Returning to Bulgaria, she taught school and wrote editorials for a wide number of publications. In 1901, she joined with a group of feminists to found the Bulgarian Women's Union. Two years later, she organized the first Socialist women's organization and conference held in Bulgaria.

The 2021–22 Bulgarian Cup was the 40th official edition of the Bulgarian annual football knockout tournament. It was sponsored by Sesame and known as the Sesame Kupa na Bulgaria for sponsorship purposes. The competition began on 4 September 2021 with the preliminary round and finished with the final on 15 May 2022. CSKA Sofia were the defending cup winners. They reached the final for 3rd consecutive time, but lost to Levski Sofia, who won the cup for a record 26th time and also qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League.
