Tuatagaloa Aumua Ming Leung Wai (born 1973) [1] is a Samoan lawyer. He served as Attorney-General of Samoa from 2006 to 2016.
He was educated at Marist St Joseph’s school in Samoa and the University of Waikato in Hamilton,New Zealand,graduating with an LLB(Hons). [2] He worked as a lawyer in New Zealand and Samoa before being appointed Attorney-General in November 2006. [1]
As Attorney-General he represented the government in opposing a legal challenge against switching to driving on the left. [3] In July 2009 he helped establish the Pacific Prosecutors Association. [4] In 2009 he filed a complaint with the New Zealand Broadcasting Standards Authority over a 1 News story about guns and drugs in Samoa. [5] resulting in a finding that the story was inaccurate and unbalanced. [6] In 2010 he filed a second complaint against a Campbell Live show which had alleged donations for the 2009 Samoa earthquake and tsunami were unaccounted for. [7] The complaint was unsuccessful. [8] In 2010 he threatened to charge the Samoa Observer with defamation over a story on the approval of casinos in Samoa. [9]
In 2011 he defended Samoa's strict anti-party-hopping laws. [10] In 2012 he investigated corruption in the police and at Tafaigata prison. [11]
In March 2016 he was replaced by Lemalu Herman Retzlaff after he did not seek reappointment on the expiry of his contract. [12]
In 2016 and 2017 he represented Director of Public Prosecutions Mauga Precious Chang when she was suspended over dangerous driving charges. [13] [14] In 2018 he represented President of the Land and Titles Court of Samoa Fepulea'i Attila Ropati who had been suspended over a charge of assault. [15] [16]
The Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) is an inter-governmental organization that aims to enhance cooperation between countries and territories of the Pacific Ocean,including formation of a trade bloc and regional peacekeeping operations. It was founded in 1971 as the South Pacific Forum (SPF),and changed its name in 1999 to "Pacific Islands Forum",so as to be more inclusive of the Forum's Oceania-spanning membership of both north and south Pacific island countries,including Australia. It is a United Nations General Assembly observer.
Tuila'epa Lupesoliai Neioti Aiono Sa'ilele Malielegaoi is a Samoan politician and economist who served as the sixth prime minister of Samoa from 1998 to 2021. Tuila’epa is Samoa's longest serving prime minister and is currently the Leader of the Opposition. Since 1998,he has led the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP). Tuila'epa first entered parliament in 1981 when he won a by-election to represent the electorate of Lepa. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the government of Prime Minister Tofilau Eti Alesana,and also held the portfolios of Tourism and Trade,Commerce &Industry.
FiamēNaomi Mataʻafa is a Samoan politician and High Chiefess (matai) who has served as the seventh Prime Minister of Samoa and leader of the Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party since 2021. She is the first woman to be appointed to cabinet,and is Samoa's first female deputy prime minister,and prime minister. Mata'afa is the daughter of Samoa's first Prime Minister,Fiame Mataʻafa Faumuina Mulinuʻu II,and she is the first head of government to not be a member of the Human Rights Protection Party since 1982.
Misa Telefoni Retzlaff served as the Samoan deputy prime minister,minister of Finance (2001–2011),and deputy leader of the Human Rights Protection Party.
Tuiloma Neroni Slade held the post of secretary general of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat from 2008 to 4 December 2014. He was elected to the position for three years on 20 August 2008. Slade was reappointed to a second term by the leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum on 8 September 2011.

Tuala Tevaga Iosefo Ponifasio is a Samoan politician and Cabinet Minister who has served as the deputy prime minister of Samoa since 2021. Elected to parliament as an independent in the 2021 election,he later joined the Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi party.
A constitutional crisis began in Samoa on 22 May 2021 when O le Ao o le Malo Tuimalealiifano Va'aletoa Sualauvi II issued a proclamation purporting to prevent the Legislative Assembly from meeting in the wake of the general election in April 2021. Court rulings had upheld the election results,giving a parliamentary majority to the Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party,led by FiamēNaomi Mataʻafa. On 24 May 2021,a makeshift ceremony was held outside of Parliament to swear in Mata'afa as prime minister. On 23 July the Court of Appeal declared that the ceremony was binding and that FAST had been the government since that date.

Gaualofa is a reconstruction of a va'a-tele,a double-hulled Polynesian voyaging canoe. It was built in 2009 by the Okeanos Foundation for the Sea. It was given to the Samoa Voyaging Society in 2012,on the occasion of Samoa's 50th anniversary of independence. It is used to teach polynesian navigation.
