The Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation is the ministry in charge of economic cooperation and development between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Arab States, foreign countries, and international and regional organizations. It also aids in economic and social development within Egypt. Its headquarters are located in New Administrative Capital.
The Ministry of International Cooperation was merged with the Ministry of Investment in September 2017. [1] It is active in developing financial inclusion policy and is a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. [2] In late 2016, the ministry talked of receiving 120 million euros from the European Union for services to help the economically disadvantaged, for example, to expand the number of children receiving school meals, to aid families running small businesses, and to assist youth with employment skills. [3]
On 2 August 2017, the Minister, Sahar Nasar, reported that foreign investment in Egypt would exceed $10 Billion (US dollars). In 2016 Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had moved to float the Egyptian pound and this resulted in lower costs for doing business in Egypt. [4]
In 2018, the Minister announced that Egypt is working to diversify foreign investment stressing several times that the goal is to create jobs. Nasr stated Egypt is working to attract investments from Europe and the US, and continues improvements in cutting red tape when doing business in Egypt. Nasr talked about the improved social stability and Egypt's focus on developing Sinai as a way of countering extremism. [5] [6]
Nasr announced that as of August 2018, sole proprietors can license their company's thanks to improvements made to Egypt's Company's Law and described the limited tax liability benefits to those Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. [7]
The Cabinet of Egypt is the chief executive body of the Arab Republic of Egypt. It consists of the Prime Minister and the cabinet ministers.
The General Intelligence Service, often referred to as the Mukhabarat is an Egyptian intelligence agency responsible for providing national security intelligence, both domestically and internationally. The GIS is part of the Egyptian intelligence community, together with the Office of Military Intelligence Services and Reconnaissance and National Security Agency.

After the neighboring countries of Egypt and Libya both gained independence in the early 1950s, Egypt–Libya relations were initially cooperative. Libya assisted Egypt in the 1973 Arab-Israeli War. Later, tensions arose due to Egypt's rapprochement with the west. Following the 1977 Egyptian–Libyan War, relations were suspended for twelve years. However, since 1989 relations have steadily improved. With the progressive lifting of UN and US sanctions on Libya from 2003 to 2008, the two countries have been working together to jointly develop their oil and natural gas industries.

Abd el-Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi is an Egyptian politician and retired military officer who has served as the sixth and current president of Egypt since 2014. Before retiring as a general in the Egyptian military in 2014, Sisi served as Egypt's deputy prime minister from 2013 to 2014, minister of defense from 2012 to 2013, and director of military intelligence from 2010 to 2012. He was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal in January 2014.

The October 2016 Sinai attacks was a terrorist attack on an Egyptian army checkpoint in the city of Bir al-Abed, Egypt, on 14 October 2016. A group of militants armed with assault rifles and heavier weapons attacked an Egyptian army checkpoint while mortar rounds and rockets were fired directed to a military checkpoint. In response, the Egyptian military forces killed around 15 militants following the attack. The Islamic State's Wilayat Sinai branch claimed responsibility in a statement released later the same day.
Ahmed Mahmoud Darwish is an Egyptian politician. He served as the first Chairman of the General Authority of Suez canal Economic Zone from 2015 to 2017. He previously served as Minister of State for Administration Development in the Nazif Cabinet between 2004 and 2011.
Mostafa Kamal Madbouly is the Prime Minister of Egypt, serving since 2018. He was appointed by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to succeed Sherif Ismail following his government's resignation in the wake of Sisi's re-election. Madbouly also served in Sherif Ismail's cabinet as Minister of Housing, and had also briefly served as acting prime minister.

The Rafah terror attack was a terrorist attack conducted by the Islamic State – Sinai Province on an Egyptian Armed Forces checkpoint in Rafah in North Sinai on 7 July 2017 and resulted in the death and injury of 23 Egyptian soldiers, including the high-ranking El-Sa'ka officer, Col. Ahmed Mansi. 46 terrorists were killed and six cars of the militants were destroyed in the attack.
