The Department of Power of West Bengal is a Bengal government ministry. [1] It is a ministry mainly responsible for the fulfillment of the demand of electricity in the state. With the enhancement of the generating capacity, it is also emphasizing on the strengthening of transmission and distribution network, especially in rural Bengal. Development of a state-of-the-art Satellite Communication network with statewide coverage has already been undertaken for modernization of various management information systems which would result in betterment of consumer services by the various utilities in the state. [1]

The ministerial team is headed by the Cabinet Minister for Power, who may or may not be supported by Ministers of State. Civil servants are assigned to them to manage the ministers' office and ministry. [1]

The Department of Parliamentary Affairs of West Bengal is a Bengal government ministry. It is a ministry mainly responsible for the smooth functioning and proper programme of business of the Assembly, regulation of relations between the Executive & the Legislature and summoning and prorogation of West Bengal Legislative Assembly, notification of Governor's/President's assent to the Bills, monitoring implementation of various recommendations of the subject committees of West Bengal Legislative Assembly, implementation of the Youth Parliament Competition Schemes in schools and Degree Colleges in the State, organising Seminars/Orientations on Parliamentary Practices & Procedures for officers of different Departments of the Government and to render official assistance to the M.L.As of West Bengal Legislative Assembly in case of any eventuality, particularly for the medical treatment of the MLAs in the hospital/nursing homes whenever necessary.

Gautam Sanyal is an Indian career civil servant who currently serves as Principal Secretary to Government of West Bengal, since June 2015. In June 2016, he was re-appointed as Principal Secretary and his tenure co-terminus with that of Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Sanjay Mitra is a retired 1982 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of West Bengal cadre. He served as Defence Secretary of India, and prior to that as Union Road Transport and Highways Secretary, and the Chief Secretary of West Bengal. Mitra also served—on an acting basis—as the chairperson of the Defence Research and Development Organisation for a period of three months.

Jagdeep Dhankhar is an Indian politician and lawyer. He has served as the Vice President of the Republic of India since 2022. He previously served as the Governor of West Bengal from 2019 to 2022. He also served as a Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in the Chandra Shekhar ministry from 1990 to 1991. He was a member of Lok Sabha from 1989 to 1991 and later a Member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from 1993 to 1998. Ashima Patra is an Indian politician. She served as Minister of State for Technical Education of West Bengal from 2016 to 2021 and currently serving as Member of Legislative Assembly for Dhaniakhali since 2011.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cyclone Amphan</span> North Indian Ocean cyclone in 2020

Super Cyclonic Storm Amphan was an extremely powerful and catastrophic tropical cyclone that caused widespread damage in Eastern India, specifically in West Bengal and Odisha, and in Bangladesh, in May 2020. It was the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the Ganges Delta. It was also the fourth super cyclone that hit West Bengal and Kolkata since 2015 as well as being one of the strongest storms to impact the area. Causing over US$13 billion of damage, Amphan is also the costliest cyclone ever recorded in the North Indian Ocean, surpassing the record held by Cyclone Nargis of 2008.
