Minor Empire are a Turkish-Canadian progressive music group formed in 2010 in Toronto, Ontario, which has been noted for its mixture of psychedelic rock and Turkish music. [1]
Minor Empire was founded in 2010 by guitarist/composer/producer Ozan Boz and singer Ozgu Ozman. [1] Their debut album Second Nature was released in January 2011. [2] Exclaim! magazine called the album "successfully dreamy", [3] and another reviewer called it "bold, expertly worked and voluptuous". [2] Minor Empire made Alevi Turkish folk song covers. Minor Empire won the award for World Group of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards, [4] and he award for World Artist/Group of the Year at the 2012 Canadian Independent Music Awards. [5]
Their second album Uprooted was released in 2017. [6] The Arts Fuse listed Uprooted as one of its favorite releases of the year. [7] Minor Empire was nominated at the Canadian Folk Music Awards [8] and Independent Music Awards again in 2018. [9]

Dallas Michael John Albert Green is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter and record producer who records under the name City and Colour. He is also known for his contributions as a singer, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. In 2005, he debuted his first full-length album, Sometimes, which achieved platinum certification in 2006. City and Colour began performing in small intimate venues between Alexisonfire tours. The name City and Colour comes from his own name: Dallas, a city, and Green, a colour. His reasoning for the name was that he felt uneasy "putting the album out under the name Dallas Green".

Lights Valerie Anne Poxleitner-Bokan, known mononymously as Lights, is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter. Her debut album, The Listening (2009), included the singles "Drive My Soul" and "Saviour". Her second album, Siberia, which featured the single "Toes", was released in 2011. Her work has earned multiple Canadian Independent Music Awards, and Juno Awards including Pop Album of the Year for her third album Little Machines, which included the single "Up We Go", and fourth album Skin & Earth, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. The Belle Game, aka Belle Game, was an indie pop band originating from Vancouver, British Columbia and active from 2009 to 2020. Its members were Adam Nanji (guitar), Andrea Lo, and Katrina Jones. Drummer Rob Chursinoff left in 2014; drummer and guitarist Alex Andrew left in 2018. For a short time, bassist Ian Cook and trumpeter Andrew Lee were also part of the band. The name is a play on the literal translation, from German, of Glockenspiel.
