Miquel Hudin is an American-Croatian writer based in Catalonia, Spain. He created a series of wine travel books called, Vinologue in 2008. [1] He additionally writes for his website, Hudin.com since its launch in 2011. [2]
Originally from the interior of Northern California, Miquel moved to San Francisco for university and while there, started working for the Inglenook winery in Napa Valley in 1999. [3] He worked in various other wine trade capacities including an importer of Central European wines which lead to a growing interest in wine.
After traveling extensively around the present-day countries of Former Yugoslavia, he founded the Vinologue series in 2008. The premise of the books was to bridge the gap between traditional travel guidebooks and large, glossy wine books to make various wine regions as approachable as possible to wine drinkers of any level. Since moving to Catalonia, Spain in 2012, he has been a regular contributor to Decanter, The World of Fine Wine, Harpers Wine & Spirit, Guild of Sommeliers, Wine & Spirits, JancisRobinson.com, and the Catalan language publications, Vadevi and Cupatges. [5] [6] He is a regular judge in international wine competitions such as the Decanter World Wine Awards and he leads wine courses. [7] [8] He is also very active in promoting the quality wines of boutique cellars from both DOQ Priorat as well as DO Montsant. [9]
He was selected as the recipient of the Geoffrey Roberts Award for his book on the wines for the Republic of Georgia that was released in 2017. He was also named "Best Drink Writer of the Year" in the annual Fortnum & Mason Awards. [10] [11] [12]
Miquel was one of the original developers and eventually the director of Francis Ford Coppola's "Virtual Studio". [13] He also co-founded The Tender (2009-2011), a local news website for San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood. [14] as well as Maneno (2008-2010), a non-profit, citizen journalism startup focused on creating a platform for news and blogging in Africa, in local languages. [15]

Anthony Rose is a British wine journalist known for his column in The Independent, which ran for the length of the print version from 1986 to 2016. He also contributes to publications such as Decanter, The Real Review , The Financial Times How to Spend It online and The Oxford Companion to Wine . Rose has contributed to several wine books including Wine Report, The Oxford Companion to Wine, and for five years co-authored the annual consumer guide Grapevine with Tim Atkin. Rose was one of four UK wine writers, along with Joanna Simon, David Williams and Jane Parkinson, to launch an online wine ratings magazine for the UK called The Wine Gang. He is the panel chair for Southern Italy at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
Žilavka is a white wine grape variety planted primarily in the Mostar region of Herzegovina, the southern area of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a varietal wine, Žilavka is known for its bright freshness and acidity. Ideal for general meal pairings, it is often oak aged as a "barrique" vintage that present more full bodied and earthy wines with nutty aspects that were more prevalent in the wines produced in the early 2000s and before.

Orange wine, also known as skin-contact white wine, skin-fermented white wine, or amber wine, is a type of wine made from white wine grapes where the grape skins are not removed, as in typical white wine production, and stay in contact with the juice for days or even months. This contrasts with conventional white wine production, which involves crushing the grapes and quickly moving the juice off the skins into the fermentation vessel. The skins contain color pigment, phenols and tannins that would normally be considered undesirable for white wines, while for red wines skin contact and maceration is a vital part of the winemaking process that gives red wine its color, flavor, and texture.

Montsant is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) for wine located in the province of Tarragona and covers 12 municipalities. It was previously known as the Falset subzone of Tarragona (DO), and was created as a separate DO in the early 2000s. Regional approval came in 2001, and from 2002 wines were sold as Montsant rather than Tarragona. Montsant takes its name from the Montsant Mountains in the area.

Babić is a native Croatian red wine grape common to the Northern Dalmatia region. Typically grown in and around the towns of Šibenik and Primošten, it can also be found on some Croatian islands such as Korčula. While officially listed as a National Cultivar in Croatia, the name of this grape is also a common Croatian family name.

It was founded by Miquel Hudin in 2007 with the guides are designed to allow those interested in enotourism to visit "Big Wines from Small Regions" as they focus exclusively on the wines as well as the gastronomy and local culture of small regions throughout the world.
Clos Mogador produces estate bottled wines in Gratallops, Catalonia in the DOQ Priorat. Founded in 1979 by René Barbier III and his wife, Isabelle Meyer, the winery was part of a new wave of "Clos" wineries that released their first joint 1989 vintage to great acclaim. They have gone on to garner impressive scores by wine critics and have built up one of the most well-known brands in all of Priorat.
