Miranda Cicognani (born 12 September 1936) is a retired Italian gymnast. At the opening ceremony of the 1952 Summer Olympics she became the first Italian woman to bear the Olympic flag of Italy. She took part in the 1952, 1956 and 1960 Games with the best result of sixth place in the team all-around event in 1952. Her younger sister Rosella competed alongside in 1956 and 1960. [1] [2]

Argentina at the 1960 Summer Olympics Sporting event delegation

Argentina's participation in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy, marked the eighth Olympic performance officially organized by the Argentine Olympic Committee. The delegation consisted of 91 athletes, all of whom were men, something which had not happened since the 1932 Games in Los Angeles and which has not happened since. Ironically, the flag bearer, a woman named Cristina Hardekopf, was a diver but was not included in the delegation as a participating athlete. Ono was the flag bearer for Japan at the 1960 Olympics, and took the Olympic Oath at the 1964 Games. In 1998, he was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.

Albert Azaryan

Albert Azaryan is a former Soviet Armenian artistic gymnast who competed internationally representing the Soviet Union. He is the 1956 and 1960 Olympic Champion on the still rings. Azaryan is the first gymnast to become an Olympic Champion in Rings twice, a feat that Akinori Nakayama would accomplish twelve years later and that no one else has matched since. He is the first person to do one of the rings most famous variations of the Iron Cross called the Azaryan Cross, which incorporates a quarter turn to the side.

Eugen Georg Oskar Ekman is a retired Finnish gymnast. He competed in all artistic gymnastics events at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics and won a gold medal in pommel horse in 1960. That year he finished sixth all-around, while in 1964 he served as the Olympic flag bearer for Finland at the opening ceremony.
