The Abayudaya are a Jewish community in eastern Uganda, near the town of Mbale. They are devout in their practice, keeping kashrut and observing Shabbat. There are several different villages where the Abayudaya live. A community that converted to Judaism in the 20th century, most community members are affiliated with the Reform and Conservative movements of Judaism. In June 2016, Rabbi Shlomo Riskin led a Beit Din that performed an Orthodox conversion for the Putti community of Abayudaya.
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is a multi-campus university offering courses at certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main campus of the university is in Mbale, about 222 kilometres (138 mi) north-east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.
Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922, and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school, offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. In addition, Makerere has onother campus in Eastern Uganda Jinja City.
Busitema University (BU) is a university in Uganda. It is one of the public universities and degree-awarding institutions in the country. It has six different campuses around the country; all situated in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The university also has a study center in the town of Tororo, focusing on short and skill-based training courses.
Nathan Nandala Mafabi is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer, politician and legislator who is representing Budadiri County West in Sironko District in the Ugandan parliament. From May 2011 until January 2014, he was the leader of the opposition in the parliament.

Jacob Marksons Oboth commonly known as Jacob Oboth-Oboth is a Ugandan lawyer, intellectual property (IP) expert and politician. He is the elected Member of Parliament for West Budama County South who is in the ruling party of NRM. He also serves as the State minister for defence. Oboth-Oboth is the current chairperson of the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and the former chairperson of the parliamentary Committee on Rules, Discipline and Privileges and the Committee on Natural Resources. He is a serving member of the parliamentary Business Committee.
Vincent Woboya is a Ugandan public administrator, disaster manager and politician. He is the elected Member of Parliament for Budadiri County East, Sironko District and a representative for NRM, the ruling political party in Uganda.

Cissy Dionizia Namujju is a Ugandan legislator, and an ICT Expert. As of March 2021, she serves as the elected woman representative for Lwengo District in Uganda's eleventh parliament. Politically, she is affiliated to the National Resistance Movement under whose ticket she contested in the 2021 general election. Cissy has also served in Uganda's tenth Parliament under the same political party.

She is an advocate for civil, political, and child rights, Wangadya is the chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission. She is also a member of the East African Law Society, Uganda Law Society, International Bar Association and Uganda Women Lawyers Association.
