The Zambian Charity Shield officially called Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield since 2003 is a season opener match between the champions of the previous Super League season and the holders of the ABSA Cup. If the Super League champions also won the ABSA Cup then the league runners-up provide the opposition. The fixture was first played in the 1967 season. The current holders are Red Arrows, who defeated Kabwe Warriors 2-1 in the 2024 match.
The 2019–20 Zambian Charity Shield was the 54th Charity Shield, an annual football match played between the winners of the previous season's Super League and ABSA Cup. This was the second editions in 2019 due to the transitional from a calendar year season to a spring-fall season. This seasons’ Charity Shield match puts 2019 transitional Super League and ABSA Cup winners Zesco United against ABSA Cup runners up Zanaco. Before the 2019-20 Charity Shield final Zesco United featured in the previous 2019 final against Nkana, Zesco lost that match 5–4 on penalties. Zanaco defeated Zesco 1–0 with the only goal being scored by Ziyo Tembo. That defeat for Zesco United was the third consecutive season they have failed to win the Charity Shield, having lost the two previous to Nkana. The match was played at Woodlands Stadium on 17 August 2019.
The Zambian National League is the second highest football division for men in Zambia and was introduced for the 2019/20 season with 18 teams. The league is administered by Zambian Premier League and is because of sponsorship reasons called Eden University National Division One League, as Eden University and FAZ signed a five year's agreement prior the inaugural season. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Zambia Super League and Zambian Division One, and is played over 34 games.

The 2018 Zambian Charity Shield was a football match between the previous Super League champions Zesco United and the holders of the ABSA Cup, Nkana. Nkana defeated Zesco United 4-3 in a high-scoring final to claim the 2018 Charity Shield title. The match was a repeat of the 2017 Charity Shield final, where Zesco United had defeated Nkana. In the 2018 edition, Nkana's Ronald 'Sate-Sate' Kampamba and Idris Ilunga Mbombo both scored braces to lead their team to victory over the defending champions Zesco United.
