Miss Plus America is a beauty pageant for plus-sized women. It began in 2002, to offer an alternative to mainstream pageants like Miss America, to which it has no affiliation. [1]
All American women are eligible, so long as they are more than a size 14W.

Miss USA is an American beauty pageant that has been held annually since 1952 to select the entrant from United States in the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss Universe Organization operated both pageants, as well as Miss Teen USA, until 2020, when the organization announced it was licensing operation of the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants to Crystle Stewart, Miss USA for 2008 prior to her suspension in October 2022, thus returning the said pageants to the Miss Universe Organization.

The Miss America protest was a demonstration held at the Miss America 1969 contest on September 7, 1968, attended by about 200 feminists and civil rights advocates. The feminist protest was organized by New York Radical Women and included putting symbolic feminine products into a "Freedom Trash Can" on the Atlantic City boardwalk, including bras, hairspray, makeup, girdles, corsets, false eyelashes, mops, and other items. She represented Nepal at Miss Universe 2023 and placed as a semifinalist, the first Miss Nepal in the top twenty since 2018. Her placement marked the first time that a plus-sized contestant had ever reached the semifinals.
