Raveendran

He composed songs for more than 150 films primarily for the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. He also composed a few albums, including Vasantha Geethangal, Ponnonatharangini and Rithugeethangal. Raveendran successfully composed melodies based on Hindustani Ragas also.

Bharatham is a 1991 Indian Malayalam-language musical drama film written by A. K. Lohithadas and directed by Sibi Malayil. It stars Mohanlal, Urvashi, Nedumudi Venu, Lakshmi, and Murali. The film was produced by Mohanlal through his production house Pranavam Arts. The film features original songs composed by Raveendran and a background score by Johnson. Bharatham is interpreted as a modern-day adaptation of the Ramayana from Bharatha's perspective. How, in the absence of his elder brother, Gopinathan takes the responsibility of the family and hides his griefs is the core of the story.

Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri Indian lyricist and poet

Padma Shri Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, popularly known as Kaithapram, is a Malayalam lyricist, poet, music director, actor, singer, screenwriter, music therapist and performer of Carnatic music. He debuted with the movie Ennennum Kannettante in 1986. He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Lyricist two times. Kaithapram is regarded as the most successful and critically acclaimed lyricist of contemporary Malayalam cinema. He was awarded India's fourth-highest civilian honor Padma Shri in 2021 for his contribution to the field of art.

His Highness Abdullah is a 1990 Indian Malayalam-language musical thriller drama film written by A. K. Lohithadas and directed by Sibi Malayil. It stars Mohanlal, Nedumudi Venu, Gautami, Sreenivasan, Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair and Mamukkoya. The film was produced by Mohanlal and was the debut production of his company Pranavam Arts. The film features original songs composed by Raveendran and a background score by Mohan Sithara. His Highness Abdullah was the same team's first film in a trilogy of Indian classical arts films, followed by Bharatham (1991) and Kamaladalam (1992).

Bichu Thirumala

B. Sivasankaran Nair(Malayalam: ബി. ശിവശങ്കരൻ നായർ), popularly known as Bichu Thirumala is an Indian lyricist and poet from Kerala, who works in the Malayalam film industry. He, along with O. N. V. Kurup, is known for creating the style of arranging beautiful words in Malayalam film songs. In Malayalam cinema, Bichu Thirumala led the group of lyricists who wrote songs for readymade tunes. In 1981, he won the Kerala State Film Award for the best lyricist for the films Thrishna and Thenum Vayambum. Thirumala won the same award for the second time in 1991, for the Rajasenan directed film Kadinjool Kalyanam.

Raveendran began his career as a playback singer through the song "Parvanarajanithan" from a Malayalam film, Velliyazhcha. Later he associated many composers and meanwhile served as a dubbing artist for films. He dubbed for actor Shankar in Aranjaanam directed by P. Venu. Primarily wished to become a playback singer, his destiny was changed by K. J. Yesudas, who realised him his ability to create tunes which eventually led to his first movie Choola in 1979.

<i>Chamaram</i>

Chamaram is a 1980 Malayalam film written by John Paul Puthusery and directed by Bharathan, starring Nedumudi Venu, Zarina Wahab, Prathap Pothan and Ratheesh. The story is about the tumultuous affair between a student and his college lecturer, an uncommon type of love story in Indian Cinema. This film has the evergreen song "Nadha Nee Varum Kalocha Kelkkuvan", sung by S. Janaki. Chamaram considered one of the landmark movies in Malayalam film history. The film broke all conventional concepts and moral equations in love. The film become a trend in 1980s campus as well as youth. Chamaram is one of the evergreen campus movies in Malayalam cinema. C.M.S. College was the location of Chamaram.

<i>Achan</i> (2011 film)

Achan is a 2011 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Ali Akbar and starring Thilakan. The film is based on a drama of the same name written by S. R. Raveendran, who also scripted the film. The film's shooting began on 28 July 2010, and was scheduled to release by October. Several issues regarding the casting of Thilakan, an expelled member of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists, led the film to a delayed release on 14 January 2011. Ali Akbar’s wife produced the film; the music was composed by his daughter.

Poovachal Khader is a Malayalam lyricist from Kerala who works mainly in Malayalam film industry. His first movie as a lyricist was Kaattuvithachavan (1973) but his first released movie was Chuzhi (1973).

Lathika

Lathika is an Indian playback singer whose voice held sway over the music charts in the late 1980s-early 1990s in the Malayalam film industry. She has lent her voice mainly for Malayalam and Tamil film songs for over 300 films. Some of her hit songs of that time are ‘Kathodu Kathoram…' and ‘Devadoothar Padi…'(Kathodu Kathoram),‘poo venam pooppada venam…', and ‘Tharum Thalirum…' (Chilambu).

<i>Kili Poyi</i>

Kili Poyi is a 2013 Indian Malayalam language stoner film directed by debutant Vinay Govind, a former associate of V. K. Prakash. The film stars Asif Ali, Aju Varghese, Sampath Raj, Raveendran, and Sreejith Ravi in major roles. The film was produced by SJM Entertainments and written by Joseph Kurian, Vivek Ranjit and Vinay Govind. The film features music and background score composed by Rahul Raj. Kili Poyi is considered to be the first Indian stoner film.

"Ramakadha" is a song composed by Raveendran as a part of the soundtrack for the 1991 Malayalam film Bharatham. This song, composed in Shubhapantuvarali raga, which is one of the most famous compositions in the raga in South India which had the lyrics penned by Kaithapram. The song was sung by K. J. Yesudas. This song was picturised on Mohanlal in the climax of the film. Yesudas won his 6th National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer and Raveendran won National Film Award Special Mention and Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director for this song. In the song sequence Mohanlal portrayed the inner conflicts of his character Gopinathan, who is forced to conceal the truth of his brother's death because of their vocally disabled sister's marriage.

<i>Parayanumvayya Parayathirikkanumvayya</i>

Parayanumvayya Parayathirikkanumvayya is a 1985 Indian Malayalam-language crime drama film directed by Priyadarshan and written by Cochin Haneefa. It is a remake of the 1975 Hindi-language film Faraar. The movie starred Mammootty, Shankar, and Menaka.

Rangam is a 1985 Indian Malayalam-language psychological drama film directed by I. V. Sasi and written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair. The film stars Mohanlal as Kathakali artist Appunni, along with Shobhana and Raveendran. The film features a musical score composed by K. V. Mahadevan.

He is currently hosting Udan Panam 3.O along with Meenakshi Raveendran on Mazhavil Manorama.
