"Get Ready" is a Motown song written by Smokey Robinson, which resulted in two hit records for the label: a U.S. No. 29 version by The Temptations in 1966, and a U.S. No. 4 version by Rare Earth in 1970. It is significant for being the last song Robinson wrote and produced for the Temptations, due to a deal Berry Gordy made with Norman Whitfield, that if "Get Ready" did not meet with the expected degree of success, then Whitfield's song, "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", would get the next release, which resulted in Whitfield more or less replacing Robinson as the group's producer.

The album was primarily produced and executive produced by the duo Tim & Bob and includes the singles "Slow Down", "Tell Me", and "My Angel ". It debuted at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 180,000 copies and has since sold over 708,000 copies nationwide. Bobby Valentino also reached number 34 on the UK Albums Chart and number 74 on the French Albums Chart. It was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). It served as his first album after the dissolution of his then-group Mista, for whom he released one album on EastWest Records.

He was first a member of the R&B group Mista in 1994, before signing to rapper Ludacris through his label imprint, Disturbing tha Peace under Def Jam Recordings in 2005. Bobby V's first single as a solo artist, "Slow Down", released in February 2005, peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single was certified gold by the RIAA and became the lead single for his eponymous debut album (2005)—which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and had a follow-up single, "Tell Me".
Mista Don't Play: Everythangs Workin is the second studio album by American rapper Project Pat. It was released on February 27, 2001 via Loud and Hypnotize Minds with distribution via RED. Recording sessions took place at Hypnotize Minds Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Production was handled by DJ Paul and Juicy J. Original official music videos were done for "Chickenhead" and "Don't Save Her". Over 10 years later, Project Pat released official music videos for "We Can Get Gangsta" and "Gorilla Pimp".

The label was home to recording artists such as Kelly himself, Sparkle, Boo & Gotti among others. The label has released four albums certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The label is known for songs like "Fiesta (Remix)", "Fortunate", "Be Careful" and "What Would You Do?". Rockland Records main producers are R. Kelly and Trackmasters. The label is currently inactive but Kelly still owns the Rockland Records imprint.
Canadian singer and songwriter Tamia has released nine albums, and twenty-six singles. She began her career in 1995 as a protégé of musician Quincy Jones, who offered her the chance to appear on his album Q's Jook Joint (1995). Selected as the album's first single, their collaboration "You Put a Move on My Heart" became a top 20 success on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The song, along with their second collaboration "Slow Jams" and "Missing You", a song she recorded with Brandy, Gladys Knight, and Chaka Khan for the soundtrack of the 1996 motion picture Set It Off, was later nominated for a Grammy Award.
Mista is the only studio album by Atlanta-based R&B youth quartet, Mista, released on July 30, 1996 via East West Records. Produced entirely by super-producers Organized Noize, Mista was fueled by the release of the album's first single "Blackberry Molasses". According to Organized Noize producer Rico Wade:
[Blackberry Molasses is] innovative. It starts out with almost a medieval feel. It's one of the most visual songs on the album with strong harmonies and a great melody.

"Blackberry Molasses" is a song performed by American contemporary R&B group Mista. It is the opening track on their eponymous debut album and serves as the album's first single. The song was the group's highest chart appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #53 in 1996. This was a favorite song of Tupac Shakur right before his death.
Black Sheep is an American hip hop duo from Queens, New York, United States, composed of Andres "Dres" Vargas Titus and William "Mista Lawnge" McLean. The duo was from New York but met as teenagers in Sanford, North Carolina, where both of their families relocated. The group was part of the Native Tongues collective, which included the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul. After getting together in 1989, Black Sheep debuted in 1991 with the hit song "Flavor of the Month" and later released its first album, A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, which gained them praise and recognition in the hip-hop community for the album's unique rhythms and intelligent, often humorous lyrics. After six years together, Black Sheep disbanded in 1995, citing creative differences.
