Mister Africa International, established in 2012, is an annual international male pageant organised by House of Twitch, it involves a worldwide search for the most adorable African man in the world. It currently has franchises in 30 African countries and has had participations from 40 African countries. [1] [2]

The Current Titleholder is TikTok influencer Eric Osaze well known as Rickie Mannie who was Mr Ideal Nigeria 2023 and represented Nigeria at the competition. [3]

Competition

Every year, representatives from 30 African countries are being selected to compete at the grand finale. [4]

As at 2023, the winner of Mr Africa International relocates to the contest's headquarters in London which is the hub of Mister Africa International. He will embark on an exciting journey visiting seven different countries and raising funds for the education of disabled children and small-scale businesses in Africa under his IME Foundation. The winner also gets endorsement deals, movie features, grace magazine covers, some international fashion shows and a one-year contract with one of the biggest modelling agencies in London. [3] [5]

History

Mr Africa International was launched in 2012 by Ayotunde Fabamwo, the CEO of the House of Twitch. The maiden edition was held in London at the African Center at Convent Garden, it involved 20 participants from 20 African countries and Adonis O’holi who represented Sierra Leone emerged winner. After three successful editions, Mister Africa International pageant was moved to Africa and was held in Lagos, Nigeria in 2016 after an emergency cancellation in Botswana, other countries that have also hosted the ceremony includes; Ivory Coast and Angola. [8] [9]

Some notable persons that emerged from Mr Africa International are; Ex Big Brother Naija housemate Emmanuel Umoh (First Nigerian to win Mister Africa International). [10] [11]

The winner of Mr Ideal Nigeria automatically represents Nigeria at Mister Africa International. Mr Ideal Nigeria emerged best male pageant brand of the year at the Eko Heritage awards in 2023.

Emmanuel Somto is a Nigerian Model, TV personality and Actor. He won Mr Teen Nigeria in 2016, emerged African Continental Champion at the Mister Model International 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. He emerged Face of Oppo Mobile in 2020 and he is the first Nigerian to make Top 17 at Mister Global pageant.

Miss Ideal Nigeria established in 2014 is a Nigerian beauty pageant organized by the House of Twitch and is aimed at empowering young women across Nigeria. The winners and runners up of Miss Ideal Nigeria automatically represents Nigeria at Miss Global Beauty queen pageant, Miss Tourism World, and Top Model of the World.
