Kohima is the capital of the Northeastern Indian state of Nagaland. With a resident population of almost 100,000, it is the second largest city in the state. Kohima constitutes both a district and a municipality. The municipality covers 20 km2 (7.7 sq mi). The city lies on the foothills of Japfü section of the Barail Range located south of the District and has an average elevation of 1,261 metres.

It is situated on the left bank of the Chathe and with its surrounding area that includes several other towns and villages, the Chümoukedima Metropolitan Area is the largest urban agglomeration in Nagaland in terms of area and third largest in terms of population, after Dimapur and Kohima.

Miss Nagaland is a state beauty pageant held annually since 1989 in the Northeastern Indian state of Nagaland. Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) is a medical institute and hospital located in Chümoukedima, Nagaland, India. Founded in 1988 as the Referral Hospital. In 2006, the hospital was handed over to the Christian Medical College and Emmanuel Hospital Association and the Government of Nagaland under a tripartite MoU partnership agreement and was renamed the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research. The campus is situated on a land area of 130 acres and is the largest medical center in Nagaland.
