Mohamed Usman Adah (born 25 August 1977) also known as Mohamed Adah, King Mohammed Adah or by his brand name, Ochacho is a Nigerian businessman, and philanthropist. He chairs the Ochacho Group of Companies, which includes Ochacho Real Homes, Ochacho Hotels, Ochacho Oil and Gas and others. [1] [2] He is considered a major player in Nigeria's real estate sector. Early life

Adah was born on 25 August 1977 in Kaduna state in northwestern Nigeria. He is of Idoma heritage, from Ohimini Local Government of Benue state. [6] Adah spent of his early life in Otukpo, Benue state, where he had his early schooling at Army Day Primary school in Makurdi, before attending St. Francis College, Otukpo for his secondary education. He proceeded to Ahmadu University, Zaria where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 2003. [7]

Career

Mohamed Adah began his career as an entrepreneur in 2006 when he founded a financial service company, Ayipolocho Investment limited, providing loans to small and medium enterprises. [1] In 2017, the company was rebranded as Ochacho Real Homes, a real estate firm with headquarters in Nigeria's capital city, Abuja. Over time, due to Adah's interests in entertainment, hospitality, aviation and the petroleum sector, the company transitioned into the Ochacho Group, with registered companies under its imprint, which include, Ochacho Homes, Ochacho Financial Services, Ochacho Farms, Ochacho Air, Ochacho Oil and Gas amongst others. In 2021, he was listed among the Top 10 Business Idols for youths in Nigeria. [9]

In 2023, Adah announced that his latest project, the Ochacho Hotels, a boutique hotel in Otukpo, Benue state in north central Nigeria, was nearing completion. [2] [10]

Philanthropy

In 2020, through the Ochacho Foundation, Mohamed Adah initiated a project themed "Light has come". A project aimed at installing street lights across the streets of Otupko, and under this initiative, no fewer than 10,000 modern street lamps were installed across the Otukpo-Ohimini axis of Benue state. [8]

In 2021, it was reported that Adah, in a philanthropic gesture, gifted Nigerian singer Davido a brand new car, for which the singer expressed his appreciation. [11]

Adah also hosts an annual free concert, tagged Ochacho Carnival, in Otukpo, Benue state, which has featured performances from Davido, Peruzzi, Zlatan Ibile and other notable Nigerian entertainers. [12]

Personal life

Adah is married to Ramatu Mohamed Adah. [13] They have five children together namely Ochacho, King Odeh, Adah, Miriam and Prince Enokola.

The state borders Nasarawa State to the North; Taraba State to the East; Kogi State to the West; Enugu State to the South-West; Ebonyi and Cross-Rivers State to the South; and has an international border with Cameroon to the South-East. Otukpo is a town in Benue State, Nigeria located in the Middle Belt Region of Nigeria. It is also the eponymous name of a subgroup of the Idoma people. Otukpo is the headquarters of the Otukpo Local Government Area. It is the headquarters of the Idoma Nation, and remains an important town in Idomaland, an area mainly populated by the Idoma speaking people, though with numerous local dialects spoken in the diverse reaches of Idoma land. Otukpo Idoma language is the umbrella lingua.

Agatu is a Local Government Area of Benue State, North Central Nigeria. It was created in 1996. It used to be the Agatu district of the old Otukpo division. The headquarters of the local government is at Obagaji; it is one of nine local government areas in the southern senatorial zone of Benue State which is mainly occupied by the Idoma people of Benue State. The resident population are mainly farmers.

Lawrence Anebi Onoja was the military governor of Plateau State, Nigeria from 1986 to July 1988 and then of Katsina State until December 1989 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. The Igede people are a Nigerian ethnic group in Lower Benue State of Nigeria. They are native to the Oju and Obi local government areas of Nigeria, where 2006 population figures stand at an estimated 267,198 people. However, many Igede people are dispersed across the state and the Nation. For instance, the Igede language is also spoken in Nigeria's Cross River State, and many Igede communities exist in Osun State and Ogun State. The Igede language is a member of the Benue-Congo subgroup of the Niger-Congo language family.

The film which stars Caroline Chikezie and Hakeem Kae-Kazim in lead roles, is set in Otukpo and tells the tale of Inale and Ode, who are both in love with each other but their love is threatened by tradition as Ode must win a customary wrestling tournament before he can take Inale's hand in marriage.

Benson Abounu is a Nigerian politician who served as the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Nigeria from 29 May 2015 to 29 May 2023. He was elected as the running mate to Governor Samuel L. Ortom in 2015 under the All Progressive Congress (APC). He is an engineer, a management consultant and a politician.

The 2023 Benue State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Benue State, concurrent with elections to the Benue State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Samuel Ortom was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Hyacinth Alia — a suspended Catholic priest — gained the office for the APC by a 33% margin over PDP nominee House of Assembly Speaker Titus Uba.

The 2019 Benue State House of Assembly election was held on March 9, 2019, to elect members of the Benue State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 30 seats were up for election in the Benue State House of Assembly.

Samuel Ode is a lawyer, educator and politician who served as the deputy governor of Benue State since 2023.
