Mohan Kanda (born 4 September 1945) is an Indian civil servant. He is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1968 batch. [1] He retired as Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh in 2005. He also served as a member of National Disaster Management Authority. [2]
He was born in Chennai Tamil Nadu, India in a Telugu Brahmin family to the High Court judge Mr. Bhimsankaram Kanda and Mrs. Papayamma, a prominent social reformer. He did his schooling from All Saints High School, Hyderabad and his Bachelors and Masters in Mathematics from Nizam College, Osmania University. He was awarded Ph.D in Mathematics by Osmania University for his thesis. His nephew is Communist Party of India (Marxist) politburo member, Sitaram Yechury.
He has acted in a few Telugu films as a child actor with the screen name "Master Mohan." [3] They include Pelli Chesi Choodu a comedy film of 1952 directed by L. V. Prasad. He acted in the song drama Amma Noppule Ammamma Noppule.
Mohan Kanda started his career with State Bank of India as an Officer. After becoming an IAS officer he began working with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He was also Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and served as Member, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). [4] He worked as a Secretary in the Union Ministry of Agriculture before working as Chief Secretary in Chandrababu Naidu's government and later with Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy government.
He is a member of the steering committee on Agriculture and Allied Sectors for the formulation of the 12th Five Year Plan (2012–17) for Planning commission. [5] [6]
He was made head of a committee that would look into the problems faced by the Coastal Andhra riots in declaring a crop holiday. [7]

The 2012 Telangana protests were a chain of protests which were part of the Telangana movement. The Bharatiya Janata Party, led by state-party president Kishan Reddy, began the 22-day Telangana "Poru Yatra" – a 3,500-kilometre (2,200 mi) journey through 986 villages and 88 assembly constituencies stressing the need for a stance on Telangana stance – on 19 January. Although the tour was successful in reiterating the party's pro-Telangana stance, it did not gain the hoped-for support because of the indifferent attitude of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Telangana Joint Action Committee. The TRS' failure to support Reddy's yatra has resulted in increasing differences between the parties. Two assembly by-elections were held that year, the first in March, and the second in June; the BJP won the first, and the YSR Congress Party the second. Protests resumed in August, when K. Chandrashekar Rao gave the centre a two-week deadline to declare statehood.

Nara Lokesh is an Indian politician, who is the Information Technology and Communication & Industries Minister in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu. He also served as Panchayat Raj, Rural development and IT and Communication minister through an MLC post. He was severely criticized for not contesting the elections and becoming a minister in his father Chandrababu Naidu's cabinet. However, after great criticism for not contesting any election, he finally chose to contest as an MLA for Mangalagiri Assembly Constituency and lost to YSR Congress Party candidate Alla Ramakrishna Reddy in 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. In 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election he was elected as MLA of Mangalagiri.
The Disaster Management Act, 2005, No. 53 of 2005, was passed by the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India on 28 November, and the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament, on 12 December 2005. T. D. J. Nagabhushanam was an Agricultural Economist associated initially with the Andhra University in the 1950s followed by the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) since the 1960s in Bapatla and Hyderabad respectively. Nagabhushanam first taught at the Agricultural College, Bapatla, which was then an affiliated entity of the Andhra University until it became a constituent College of the APAU in 1964. After nearly three decades of teaching in Bapatla, Nagabhushanam became the Principal during the 1980s after which he was made Dean of Agricultural economics and was notable for his research articles that were written over a period of nearly five decades beginning with the 1950s.
