Molly Horst Raphael is an American librarian. From 2011 to 2012,she was president of the American Library Association. In 2009,she won the Arthur Flemming Civil Rights award. [1] She served in urban public libraries for 40 years. Raphael's 33 years at the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) began as a youth librarian and culminated in her appointment as Library Director in 1997. In 2003,Raphael was recruited to lead the award-winning Multnomah County Library (MCL) in Portland,Oregon. [2] She retired from Multnomah County Public Library in May 2009. [3]
She graduated from Oberlin College,and Simmons College. She was director of the District of Columbia Public Library. [4] She is on the advisory board of Credo Reference.

Judith Fingeret Krug was an American librarian,freedom of speech proponent,and critic of censorship. Krug became director of the Office for Intellectual Freedom at the American Library Association in 1967. In 1969,she joined the Freedom to Read Foundation as its executive director. Krug co-founded Banned Books Week in 1982.

In 2021 the American Library Association awarded him Honorary Membership,its highest award.

Allie Beth Martin was an American librarian,educator,politician,and author. In 1990,she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the field of library science by American Libraries. She was the first director of the Tulsa City-County Library,from 1963 until her death,and was known for her ground-breaking library improvement programs.
Clara Stanton Jones was the first African-American president of the American Library Association,serving as its acting president from April 11 to July 22 in 1976 and then its president from July 22,1976,to 1977. Also,in 1970 she became the first African American and the first woman to serve as director of a major library system in America,as director of the Detroit Public Library.
Carla Diane Hayden is an American librarian who is serving as the 14th librarian of Congress. Since the creation of the office of the librarian of Congress in 1802,Hayden is both the first African American and the first woman to hold this post. Patricia "Patty" Wong is the city librarian of Santa Clara,California. Wong was the president of the American Library Association (ALA) for the 2021–2022 term and is the first Asian American president of the ALA. She has been on the faculty at the San Jose State University iSchool since 2006,teaching subjects such as equitable access to library services,library management,and library services to young people.
Lessa Kananiʻopua Pelayo-Lozada is an American librarian. She is the adult services assistant manager for the Palos Verdes Library District in Southern California. In 2021,Pelayo-Lozada was elected as president of the American Library Association for the 2022–2023 term;she is the youngest person to be elected ALA president as well as the first Pacific Islander.
