She became the clear favorite of the judges, winning the interview and swimsuit preliminaries and all three segments of the semi-finals. During the 1990 Miss Universe competition, she listed herself as "The beauty queen from Hell" as a publicity stunt[ citation needed ] (because she was born in the village of Hell, located in Stjørdal Municipality, Norway; however 'hell' also means 'luck' in Norwegian). [2] Her runners-up were Carole Gist and Lizeth Mahecha, representing United States and Colombia, respectively.

During her reign, she appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation as Ensign Graham in the episode "Identity Crisis". Grudt was also the last Miss Universe to accompany Bob Hope on his USO tour.

In 2013, Grudt was the editor of the Norwegian wedding magazine Ditt Bryllup (en. Your Wedding). [3] Also, Mona Grudt came in second place in the Norwegian version of Dancing with the Stars, in Norway called Skal vi danse (Shall we dance).[ citation needed ]

Grudt returned to the Miss Universe pageant in 1994 as a member of the panel of judges.[ citation needed ] In 2010, she became the host of the seventh Cycle of Norway's Next Top Model, which aired in 2011. [4]

Skal vi danse? Norwegian television program

Skal vi danse is a Norwegian television series which has been broadcast on TV 2 and produced by Monster Entertainment since 2006. The series sees celebrities partner with professional dancers to compete in mainly ballroom and Latin dance. The pairs each week compete by performing one or more choregraphed routines that usually revolve around a prearranged theme for that particular week. Each pair is then scored by a panel of judges and the viewers. The viewers are given a short time to place votes for their favourite pairs, usually online. Once all the votes have been added up, the pair with the lowest combined score is eliminated. This process continues until there are only two pairs left, who will compete against each other in a final before one is crowned the winner. It is based on the British reality TV competition Strictly Come Dancing and is part of the Dancing with the Stars franchise.
