The Monmouth County Library is the county library system for Monmouth County, New Jersey. It is headquartered in Manalapan, New Jersey. [1] The system was created in 1922. [2]

The two largest locations are Headquarters (Manalapan) and Eastern Branch (Shrewsbury). There are additionally eleven full branch locations, in the municipalities of Allentown, Colts Neck, Hazlet, Holmdel, Howell, Marlboro, Ocean Township, Oceanport, and Wall Township. Residents of these municipalities have the easiest access to branches and their materials. [1]

In addition there are fourteen municipalities that have their own libraries but are members of the Monmouth County Library System, [1] meaning their libraries can borrow materials from the county system but not vice versa.

Additionally there are another fourteen municipalities that have no libraries of their own but are members of the county system. Thus the county system comprises in some way 41 of the 53 municipalities in Monmouth County. [1] A majority of Monmouth County towns pay county library taxes and their residents are entitled to free library cards in the county library system.

The remaining twelve municipalities have their own libraries that are not part of the county system. Instances of such libraries include the Freehold Public Library and the Belmar Public Library. [1] Residents of nonmember towns can purchase library cards in the Monmouth County Library system.

Raritan Bayshore

The Raritan Bayshore region of New Jersey is a subregion of the larger Jersey Shore. It is the area around Raritan Bay from The Amboys to Sandy Hook, in Monmouth and Middlesex counties, including the towns of Perth Amboy, South Amboy, Sayreville, Old Bridge Township, Aberdeen Township, Keyport, Union Beach, Keansburg, Middletown, Atlantic Highlands, and Highlands. It is the northernmost part of the Jersey Shore, located just south of New York City. At Keansburg is a traditional amusement park while at Sandy Hook are found ocean beaches. The Sadowski Parkway beach area in Perth Amboy, which lies at the mouth of the Raritan River, was deemed the "Riviera of New Jersey" by local government. In the last years many of the beaches on the Bayshore area have been rediscovered and upgraded as the quality of the water continues to improve.

Ocean County Library

Ocean County Library is a public library system that serves 32 municipalities out of the 33 municipalities of Ocean County, New Jersey. Beach Haven on Long Beach Island is not a member municipality. The Headquarters branch is in Toms River. It also offers Outreach services to life care centers, Books by Mail and Home Borrowers services for the homebound, and a volunteer program. There are active Friends of the Library groups associated with individual branches. There are approximately 380,000 registered borrowers, and 290,000 bibliographic records in the catalog. Annual circulation was near 4.4 million in 2014. All library locations have free wireless access to the Internet and internet terminals for public use.

Somerville Public Library is a public library of the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey and is located at 35 West End Avenue in Somerville, New Jersey. It is centered at the end of Somerville’s downtown Main Street and is in the same building as the town’s Borough Hall. The library offers books, movies, CDs, and periodicals. It also hosts special events, such as programs and lectures for each age group, as well as providing free WiFi access.
