Monsieur Camembert is a five-piece Gypsy fusion band formed in Sydney, Australia in 1997. They have won three ARIA Music Awards for Best World Music Album in 2002 for Live on Stage (released in 2001), in 2003 for Absynthe and in 2005 for Monsieur Camembert . [1] The linguistic repertoire of Monsieur Camembert's music includes English, Russian, Hebrew and Yiddish.

Monsieur Camembert formed as a five-piece Gypsy fusion band in Sydney, Australia in 1997. Their first album, was the live release The Gypsy Hot Club Presents Monsieur Camembert , which featured Svetlana Bunic on accordion, Julian Curwin on lead guitar, Yaron Hallis on vocals and rhythm guitar, Michael Lira on double bass and Daniel Weltlinger on violin and was recorded at The Gypsy Hot Club. [2] Released in 1999, it is also titled, Live @ The Basement and demonstrated their styles including Gypsy swing, Greek, Hungarian-Russian gypsy, klezmer, tango and original songs. [2]

Their second album was also a live performance, Live on Stage which was released on 11 September 2001. Performing on the album were Mark Atkins on didgeridoo, Eddie Bronson on percussion, Bunic, Curwin, Shenton Gregory on violin, Hallis and Mark Szeto on bass. [3]

They have won three ARIA Music Awards for Best World Music Album (2002, 2003, 2005). [1] The linguistic repertoire of Monsieur Camembert's music includes English, Russian, Romani, Hebrew and Yiddish.

The Black Sorrows are an Australian blues rock band formed in 1983 by mainstay vocalist Joe Camilleri, who also plays saxophone and guitar. The Tango Saloon is an Australian experimental tango band from Sydney, Australia. Their self-titled debut, a "tango-flavored album with a twist of spaghetti western", was released in 2006 by Ipecac Recordings, the American record label run by Mike Patton and Greg Werckman. It was described by Greg Prato of AllMusic as "a musical breath of fresh air in the often foul-smelling state of modern popular music". Three albums have followed, Transylvania (2008), Shadows & Fog (2012) and Suspicion (2015) featuring vocalist Elana Stone. Blue Ruin were an Australian blues rock band, which started as Scrap Museum in 1984. Their third studio album, I'm Gonna Smile, was nominated for Best Independent Release at the ARIA Music Awards of 1991. The group had released three other studio albums, Such Sweet Thunder, Flame and Tattoo Tears (1993), before disbanding in 1995. Mainstay members were Ian "Quincy" McLean on lead vocals and Mulaim Vela on lead guitar.

Cosmo Cosmolino are a gypsy, folk and tango band, which formed in 1995 by Hope Csutoros on lead violin, Helen Mountfort on cello and Judy Gunson on lead vocals and piano accordion. They were joined by Andrea Keeble on violin and Dan Witton on double bass and vocals in 1998. Their debut album, Streetsweeper, was independently released in April 2000 and was followed by Nektár in December 2004, which was nominated for Best World Music Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 2005. Csutoros was replaced by Sue Simpson on violin in 2006. Their third album, Bel Air, appeared in August 2011.

Xenos are an Australian Romani music ensemble with a flexible roster of three to five core members and an extended line-up. They were formed in Zürich, Switzerland in 1989 playing Macedonian Roma music and relocated to south-eastern Australia in 1995.

The Barkers were an Australian contemporary folk band formed in 1993. Their second album Black Joke (1996) was nominated at the ARIA Music Awards of 1997 for Best World Music Album.

A Loud Call is the third studio album by Australian indie-folk artist Holly Throsby. It was released on 14 July 2008, which peaked at No. 34 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Throsby worked with Nashville-based producer, Mark Nevers. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2008 she was nominated for Best Female Artist for the album.
