The University of Leoben in Austria is the country's university for mining, metallurgy and materials. It was founded on 4 November 1840 as the Steiermärkisch-Ständische Montanlehranstalt in Vordernberg, Styria, Austria's mining region. In 1849 Peter Tunner relocated the university to nearby Leoben. That year the university had a mere 48 students enrolled.
Canal Park is a tourist and recreation-oriented district of Duluth, Minnesota, United States. Situated across the Interstate 35 freeway from Downtown Duluth, it is connected by the Aerial Lift Bridge across the Duluth Ship Canal to the Park Point sandbar and neighborhood. Canal Park Drive and Lake Avenue South serve as the main routes in Canal Park. Canal Park is largely a conversion of an old warehouse district into restaurants, shops, cafés, and hotels. This conversion began in the 1980s as an attempt to use Duluth's rich industrial past, the decline of which had left the city in economic turmoil at the time, as an asset in a prospective tourist industry. The Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) now connected to the new Amsoil Arena and the area's prominent entertainment venue, is also located in the district. The DECC provides an indoor connection to the skywalk system in Downtown Duluth.

Araks, is a village with 2,113 inhabitants (2001) in the western part of the Armavir Province of Armenia. It was founded as a state farm in 1940. The Battle of Sardarapat of 1918, took place near the village of Araks. In 1968, the Sardarapat Battle Memorial was erected on the site of the battle. Additionally there is the state owned Armenia Ethnography Museum.

Buchach castle is a ruin of a medieval castle, located in Buchach, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine. It was built by the Buchacki family in the 14-15th century at around the time the town was founded. It was rebuilt by the Potocki-Movile family in the 16-17th century in a Renaissance style. It was a defensive structure, and saw combat several times. It fell into disrepair following its destruction by the Ottomans in the late 17th century. During the 19th century, while under the Austrian partition, it was partially demolished to reclaim building material. Today, it is a tourist attraction open to visitors.
