Montserrat Tura (born 6 November 1954) is a Spanish politician and Member of the Parliament of Catalonia. From 29 November 2006 to 29 December 2010,she had served as Minister of Justice of Catalonia. [1] She is considered one of the most prominent members of the Catalanist wing of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia. [2] [3] She is married with two daughters.
She was born in Mollet del Vallès (Province of Barcelona) into a country family strongly defined by its political activity in support of liberty,democracy and Catalanism. Her uncle was member of the Republican Left of Catalonia and mayor of the town during the Second Republic;her great grandfather was also mayor in the 1910s,and prominent member of the Catalan Regionalist League. The cousin of her father,Jordi SoléTura,was a prominent Catalan Communist politician.
She was linked to anti-Francoist organisations from a very early age. Clandestinely active since she was sixteen and in the first years of the transition after Franco's death,she took part in university movements and in a number of environmentalist and leftist groups. [4]
After graduating with degrees in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona,she combined medical practice with her specialisation in health care management and economics. In 1981,she started practicing at Palamós Hospital,and was appointed General Director the following year. [4] During her time as Medical Director and General Director,she also oversaw the planning and construction of a new hospital.
Except for the time she worked in Palamós,Tura has always lived in Mollet.
In 1979,she joined the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (the Catalan sister party of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) and has been a member of the national leadership since 1990.
She was Mayoress of Mollet from 30 June 1987 to 21 December 2003,a time when the city underwent an extraordinary transformation from both the urban and sociocultural point of view. It was an Olympic site in the 1992 Barcelona Games and commemorated its Millennium in 1993. Some flagship projects during her office are the Museu Municipal Joan Abelló,the Parc dels Colors,by architect Enric Miralles,and the new Town Hall.

She was elected Member of the Catalan Parliament in the 1995 regional elections and re-elected in 1999 and 2003. As an MP,she has been on the Regional Policy,Economy,Finances and Budgets committees,and she was Vice President of the Organisation and Administration of the Regional Assembly and Local Government committee. In the sixth term of office,she was spokesperson for the Socialists - Citizens for Change parliamentary group and part of its management committee. In January 2004,she resigned her seat.
On January 12,2010,Tura announced she intended to run for mayor of Barcelona,facing in the PSC's primaries the incumbent mayor Jordi Hereu.
Jordi Pujol i Soley is a Spanish politician from Catalonia who was the leader of the party Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC) from 1974 to 2003,and President of the Generalitat de Catalunya from 1980 to 2003.

Montserrat Gibert i Llopart was the mayor of Sant Boi de Llobregat until 2007. Gibert studied at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and moved to Sant Boi in 1971 to teach. Together with other local teachers she established a cooperative school,l´escola Barrufet. She was also active in establishing the Collective of Catalan Public Schools (CEPEPC). She joined the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC) in 1982.
Marina Geli i Fàbrega was the health minister of the Generalitat de Catalunya from 2003 to 2010. She is considered one of the most prominent members of the Catalanist wing of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia.
Mollet del Vallès is a municipality in the comarca of the Vallès Oriental in Catalonia,Spain. It is situated in the valley of the Besòs river,and is an important communications hub from Barcelona towards the north:the AP-7 Motorway passes through the municipality,as do the RENFE railway lines to Vic and Puigcerdàand to Girona and Portbou. The town is also served by the C-17 highway.
The R7 is a line of Rodalies de Catalunya's Barcelona commuter rail service,operated by Renfe Operadora. It links Sant Andreu Arenal railway station in northern Barcelona with Cerdanyola Universitat railway station,which serves the Bellaterra campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The R7 shares tracks for most of its length with Barcelona commuter rail service lines R3 and R4,as well as regional rail line R12. According to 2010 data,the line's average weekday ridership is 8,140.
Lluís Miquel Recoder i Miralles is a Spanish politician. He was mayor of Sant Cugat del Vallès in Barcelona Province,Catalonia,Spain from 1999 to 2010 and held the office of Minister of Planning and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya from 29 December 2010 to 27 December 2012.

The R8 is a line of Rodalies de Catalunya's Barcelona commuter rail service,operated by Renfe Operadora. It runs hourly between Martorell and Granollers across the Vallès Occidental region,spanning 40 kilometres (25 mi) and eight stations. The R8 primarily uses the Castellbisbal–Mollet-Sant Fost railway,as well as the Sant Vicençde Calders–Vilafranca del Penedès–Barcelona and Barcelona–Cerbère railways on its southern and northern ends,respectively. It is currently the only line of the Barcelona commuter rail service entirely bypassing Barcelona. The trains operating on the line are Civia electrical multiple units (EMU).

Maria Carme Forcadell i Lluís is a Spanish politician from Catalonia. She is the former President of the Parliament of Catalonia,as well as a Catalan high school teacher,known for her Catalan independence activism.
Left Movement is a social-democratic,pro-independence political party in Catalonia. The party was founded in November 2014 from the merger of New Catalan Left (NECat) and Catalonia Movement,which had both been formed by dissident members of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC) who were dissatisfied with what they saw as the party's lack of support for the independence movement. Its founders included Marina Geli and Ernest Maragall (NECat),but both have ever since left for other parties—Geli joined the Together for Catalonia alliance ahead of the 2017 Catalan regional election,whereas Maragall defected to Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) in 2018.
Antoni Comín,born in Barcelona on March 7 1971,is a Catalan intellectual and politician from Spain. He is currently the executive vice-president of the Council for the Republic and has been an MEP since July 2019. He is the fourth child of the politician and intellectual Alfonso Carlos Comín i Ros and Maria Lluïsa Oliveres i Sanvicens,whose other children are Maria,Pere and Betona. He is the partner of the stage designer Sergi Corbera,and they have a daughter called Laia.

New Catalan Left was a Catalanist and pro-independence political party founded in December 2012 as a split from the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC) by Ernest Maragall,brother of former Catalan president Pasqual Maragall. In November 2014,the party was merged into the Left Movement (MES).
The Catalan Republic was a state proclaimed in 1931 by Francesc Maciàas the "Catalan Republic within the Iberian Federation",in the context of the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic. It was proclaimed on 14 April 1931,and superseded three days later,on 17 April,by the Generalitat de Catalunya,the Catalan institution of self-government within the Spanish Republic.
The Institut Nova Història is a Catalan cultural foundation with headquarters in Barcelona committed to pseudohistory and its research. Its members,of which the most prominent is the Catalan nationalist writer Jordi Bilbeny,hold that history has been systematically manipulated by the Spanish state since the 15th century to eliminate the Catalan contribution to world history. The foundation promotes research,study and dissemination through publications,conferences,documentaries and symposia of its vision of Catalan history. in particular the annual "Symposium on the Catalan Discovery of America" in Arenys de Munt. This has led them to create a "history of their own" whose theses,"more or less picturesques ”,are rejected by both scholars and Academia. Alberto Reig Tapia,from University of Rovira i Virgili considers that their members do not make history but "Parody of History"'. Josep Colomer,from Georgetown University,has called them “cartoon satirists” ». The Institut Nova Història claims that major historical figures,including Christopher Columbus,Erasmus,Miguel de Cervantes,William Shakespeare,Leonardo da Vinci,Saint Teresa of Ávila and others were Catalan. It is funded by the Catalan autonomous government,and has received support from Catalan nationalist politicians.

He was previously Minister of Education,a member of the European Parliament and a member of Barcelona City Council (BCC).
