A Monument to Mirza Alakbar Sabir was installed in 1958, in Baku, on Istiglaliyyat Street, in a park near Ismailiyya building. Its sculptor was Jalal Garyaghdi, and architects were H.Alizade and A.Ismayilov. [1]

History

The monument was installed in honor of the Azerbaijani poet Mirza Alakbar Sabir. The first monument was installed in 1922, and made by a sculptor Yakov Keulikhes and architect Y.Syryshev. Heights of pedestal of reinforced concrete sculpture was equal to 3,75 meters, but the figure of the poet was made standing up straight. [2] Not long after it was decided to replace the monument with a new one and a solemn opening ceremony of the new monument to Mirza Alakbar Sabir installed at the place of the former one, was held on April 30, 1958. [3] New bronze monument, made by sculptor Jalal Garyaghdi and architects H.Alizade and A.Ismayilov, was installed on a pedestal of dark polished granite – Labrador.

Salman Mumtaz — Azerbaijani poet, literature historian, bibliographer, and collector of medieval manuscripts. He was a member of the Union of Azerbaijani writers since 1934, a researcher in the 1st category of the literature sector of the Azerbaijani Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union, and the director of the Azerbaijani Literature Department of the Azerbaijani National Institute of Scientific Research from 1929 to 1932. Salman Mumtaz was a renowned Azerbaijani literary scholar and poet. He was born in Shaki in 1884. In his efforts to collect, publish and promote the classical literary legacy, he discovered unknown manuscripts of a number of Azerbaijani poets and ashugs. Falling a victim to repressions, he was arrested in 1937 and killed by shooting in 1941 while imprisoned in Oryol.

The Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen is an urban park located in east-central Almaty in the area surrounding the Ascension Cathedral. It is dedicated to and named after the Panfilov heroes which were the 28 soldiers of an Alma-Ata Infantry unit who allegedly died while defending Moscow from the German invasion during the Second World War. The group took its name from Ivan Panfilov, the General commanding the 316th division which, in spite of heavy casualties, believed at that time managed to significantly delay the Germans advance to Moscow, thus buying the time for the defenders of the city. An eternal flame commemorating the fallen of the World War II and the Eastern Front burns in front of the giant black monument of soldiers from all 15 Soviet Republics.

Mirza Alakbar Sabir Garden is one of the gardens located in the Sabail district of Baku. The garden named after the famous Azerbaijani satirical poet Mirza Alakbar Sabir. It is bordered by the fortress wall of the Icheri Sheher in the south, Istiglaliyyat Street in the north, the Constitutional Court in the east, and the Institute of Manuscripts in the west which known as the Ismailiyya. The statue of Mirza Alakbar Sabir has been erected in the garden.
