More Than You Know is an album by saxophonist Dexter Gordon with an Orchestra arranged and conducted by Palle Mikkelborg recorded in 1975 and released on the Danish SteepleChase label. [1] [2]

Dexter Gordon American jazz tenor saxophonist

Dexter Gordon was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. He was one of the first players of the instrument in the bebop idiom of musicians such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bud Powell. Gordon's height was 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm), so he was also known as "Long Tall Dexter" and "Sophisticated Giant". His studio and performance career spanned over 40 years.

Palle Mikkelborg Danish musician

Palle Mikkelborg is a Danish jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger and record producer. He started playing professionally in 1960, and has since been a dominant figure on the Danish and international progressive jazz scene. He has released several solo records, and recorded with various co-founded groups, as well as appearing as sideman or arranger on numerous international records. Notable international collaborations include appearances with the Gil Evans Big Band, the George Russell Big Band, Gary Peacock, Jan Garbarek, and Miles Davis, for whom he composed and produced the 1985 record Aura. In 2001 he was awarded the Nordic Council Music Prize.

SteepleChase Records is a jazz record company and label based in Copenhagen, Denmark. SteepleChase was founded in 1972 by Nils Winther, who was a student at Copenhagen University at the time. He began recording performances at Jazzhus Montmartre, where many American expatriates played, and was given permission by some of the artists to release the material on record.

The tenor saxophone is a medium-sized member of the saxophone family, a group of instruments invented by Adolphe Sax in the 1840s. The tenor and the alto are the two most commonly used saxophones. The tenor is pitched in the key of B♭ (while the Alto is pitched in the key of E♭), and written as a transposing instrument in the treble clef, sounding an octave and a major second lower than the written pitch.
