Morris Motors Sports Ground was a cricket ground in Cowley, Oxfordshire.
The ground was built and initially owned by Morris Motors in the 1920s, under the guidance of its founder William Morris, 1st Viscount Nuffield. [1]
The first recorded match on the ground was in 1954, when Oxfordshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match at the ground in the against Buckinghamshire. From 1954 to 1991, the ground hosted 32 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final Minor Counties Championship match seeing Oxfordshire play Berkshire. [2]
The ground has also held List-A matches. The first List-A match saw Oxfordshire play Worcestershire in the 1970 Gillette Cup. In 1972 Oxfordshire played Durham in the 1972 Gillette Cup, with the final List-A match held on the ground between Oxfordshire and Cornwall in the 1975 Gillette Cup. [3]
After over 50 years at the ground, Morris Motors Cricket Club were removed from it by the Morris Motors Athletic & Social Club, the custodians of the ground, shortly before the start of the 2003 season, sparking claims of racism; the social club denied this, claiming the cricket club's removal was a financial decision. The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club.

The first recorded match on the ground was in 1954, when Staffordshire played Northumberland in the grounds first Minor Counties Championship match. From 1954 to present, the ground has hosted 40 Minor Counties Championship matches and 7 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.
Christ Church Ground is a cricket ground in Oxford, England. The ground is owned by Christ Church, a constituent college of the University of Oxford. Owing to the University Parks being on public land where an admission charge could not be levied, the privately owned Christ Church Ground was the preferred venue in Oxford for matches where a gated admission was to be levied on spectators, typically in matches between Oxford University and a touring international team. The ground operated as a first-class cricket venue from 1878 to 1961, hosting 37 first-class matches. After 1961, the University Parks became the preferred venue for all first-class matches in Oxford, but it remained in use in minor counties cricket by Oxfordshire until the start of the 21st century. Today the ground is used by the Christ Church Cricket Club.
Harecroft Road is a cricket ground in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1926, when Cambridgeshire played the Leicestershire Second XI in the Minor Counties Championship. Cambridgeshire have used the ground periodically and until 2009 the ground has hosted 58 Minor Counties Championship matches and 5 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.
Amy Lane, also known as The Meadow, is a cricket ground in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1907, Buckinghamshire played the Worcestershire Second XI. Buckinghamshire next used the ground in 1951, and from 1951 to 1982 the ground hosted 32 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which saw Buckinghamshire play Suffolk. Buckinghamshire returned to the ground in 1993 to play the first and only MCCA Knockout Trophy match held at the ground, against Oxfordshire.
