Cycling has been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since the birth of the modern Olympic movement at the 1896 Summer Olympics, at which a road race and five track events were held. Mountain bike racing entered the Olympic programme at the Atlanta Olympics, followed by BMX racing in 2008 and freestyle BMX in 2020. Before the 2020 Summer Olympics, all events were speed races, but the 2020 programme featured BMX freestyle for the first time.

David Herman is an American racing cyclist who represents the United States in BMX. He grew up in Falls Creek & Lort Smith. He represented the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's BMX event. Herman was the ABA National No. 1 Amateur in 2005 and 2006. He finished fifth overall at the 2012 UCI BMX World Championships.
Nicholas James Long is an American racing cyclist who represents the United States in BMX.
Andrés Eduardo Jiménez Caicedo is a Colombian racing cyclist who represents Colombia in BMX racing. He represented Colombia at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's BMX event. At the 2008 Games, he reached the final but finished just outside the medals. In 2012 he again reached the final, but only finished in 6th place on this occasion.
Sifiso Nhlapo is a South African racing cyclist who represents South Africa in BMX. He was selected to represent South Africa at 2008 Beijing, China Summer Olympics and the 2012 London, England Summer Olympics in the men's BMX event. Sifiso has raced professionally since 2007 and has competed in the European and USA series. Sifiso placed second at the UCI SX race in Pietermaritzburg South Africa in 2010, in front of adoring fans.
Carlos Mario Oquendo Zabala is a Colombian racing cyclist. Carlos was selected to represent Colombia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's BMX category, and won the bronze medal in that competition.
Renato Rezende is a Brazilian racing cyclist who represents Brazil in BMX racing. He represented Brazil at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's BMX event.
Roger Rinderknecht is a Swiss racing cyclist who represents Switzerland in BMX and mountain bike racing. Stefany Hernández is a Venezuelan racing cyclist who represents Venezuela in BMX racing. She represented Venezuela at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the women's BMX racing event. She was fifth in her semifinal heat and not succeed to qualify into the final. Her final standing was ninth. She became BMX World Champion on 25 July 2015 at Zolder, Belgium.
Henrik Baltzersen is a Danish amateur BMX cyclist. Having started his sporting career at the age of six and been admitted to the Danish national cycling team since 1999, Baltzersen has mounted top-eight finishes in BMX racing at the European Championships, and later represented his nation Denmark at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Mogens Benno Therkildsen is a Danish former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1972 Summer Olympics.
