Mostyn Mangau is a senior police officer in the Solomon Islands. [1] [2]
In 2014 Mangau was honoured with a British Empire Medal. [3] Four other officers received similar honours.
In February 2018, Mangau announced an initiative to destroy rogue crocodiles observed near Bonegi, Guadalcanal, and assured the public that managing the crocodile population was a priority for the police. [4]
He was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police from Assistant Commissioner of Police, on October 24, 2019. [1] He was also appointed to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Executive. His responsibilities include National Security. [2]
Mangau attended the commissioning of the RSIPV Gizo in his capacity of acting police commissioner. [5] He called the Gizo the "pride of the fleet".
Solomon Islands, also known simply as the Solomons, is an island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Melanesia, part of Oceania, to the northeast of Australia. It is directly adjacent to Papua New Guinea to the west, Australia to the southwest, New Caledonia and Vanuatu to the southeast, Fiji, Wallis and Futuna, and Tuvalu to the east, and Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia to the north. The Superintendent of Police (SP) is a rank in Indian police forces held by an officer serving as the head of a rural police district. Officers of the same rank may also head specialised wings or units. In cities under commissionerate system, an SP may serve as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) under the Commissioner of Police. RSIPV Gizo (05) is a Guardian-class patrol boat in service with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Maritime Department. She was the fifth boat of her class to be completed. Australian officials officially handed her over to representatives of the Solomon Islands on 8 November 2019, at the Austal shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia.
Raymond Siu Chak-yee is the current Commissioner of Police of the Hong Kong Police Force since 25 June 2021. He previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) of the Hong Kong Police Force under his predecessor Chris Tang.

Three of the police officers were awarded the British Empire Medal. The officers are Assistant Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau; Chief Superintendent Ian Bara and Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo.
Assistant Police Commission, National Operations Mostyn Mangau said managing the crocodile population is a priority for the Police.
